Here we go again!
My little boy has taken to screaming.
In his sleep...at night....asleep....screaming.
That's it.
He then needs consoling as he appears to be frightened.
This happens about 5+ times at night.

Any suggestions that doesn't involve a pillow over someones head??
O's mom.

I'd just like to add: He's not yet 11 months old!!

He knows the bear is an imposter and he's NOT happy.

(Or else you left a few of those pins lying around)

Wattle - exactly what I was a gonna say!

Poor little tyke.

Maybe teeth???

Maybe he is just a very switched on little lad (like his mamma) and having intense dreams??? Can you try very quiet calming music in his room???

J do you think Enya at 3 am, 4 am, 5 am is going to help?
She might have the rest of us screaming??
Though I could try it....what have I got to lose??

Enya the banshie eh???

I was thinking more classical but mmmm

I dunno - just a thought - Maybe if he can hear the music (if it is coz of bad dreams) it will help him to be more grounded in his sleep - if you know what I mean.

For example if you want to try to learn to do lucid dreaming (when you have control of your dreams while dreaming) - you go to sleep thinking about your senses - smell, taste, hearing etc - obviously he is too little to be lucid dreaming but it might follow suit wrt keeping him calm

OK - sounds weird - I'm not a morning person, what can I say :o

In fact Classical would be ideal...as it has a higher vibration.....might solve a few other little metaphysical problem's were having at the moment...hmmmm......
You might be on to something there..

Nice work KB! And perhaps the screaming and the other metaphysical 'problems' are all related..? But you'd had that thought already right!

Wattle! I love it!! You're a treasure. :D If I start listening now, do you think it will work for bubs when she is born? I'm nearly 19 weeks along. She's only just beginning to hear, right?

Glad you had a good night!
If my O is crazy and screaming in the car we put in the abc classical radio station and he always goes straight to sleep. :)

I wrote you a reply KB........ where did it go?..... hmm.

It might be night terrors. Max had them for a while after he had surgery (:( ), but he hasn't had them lately. There's not much you can do about it other than cuddle him until he calms down. There was a thread a while back about it, just do a search.

It's horrible though, watching them cry uncontrollably.

KB - when he's screaming ... is he actually asleep or or limbo somewhere in the middle? When you go in to console him does he know you're there? Do you need to pick him up to settle him down or does a hand on the back or pat on the bum work? How long does the screaming last for? Is there a possibility that O is hot? Strange question I know but Ben's night terrors occur more frequently if we're having warm weather or if he has too many clothers/covers on. deb

Hi girls....Back from my walk.
Thanks Wattle and Supermum for the last posts.
Wattle: I did look into the night terrors thread....and yes it is very similar.
Supermum: he is asleep when he screams and shoosh pat wont cut it..he needs to be picked up and awoken and calmed before he goes back to sleep.
It kind of of lasts as long as it takes for him to realise that he's safe and I'm there and then I keep him with me in bed until he either begins to hog it or play poke the daddy in the head.......
I'm not thinking he's hot. he generally kicks the covers off and I dress him well enough to suffice without bedclothes should he go without them.
Thanks girls. Hopefully he wont be a regular in this.

Huge egg on his head now..... :(
