My and my friend have both just had a couple of slings made for us. She has a 4 week old and I am minding her often.

I got mine today and as bubs was round I tried it on. It just didnt feel right, she didnt feel really supported and it felt quite loose... and like I had to put my arm around her to support her... which kinda defeats the purpose of the sling.

Could this mean the sling it too big for my size? (I am small... sz 8 - 10) Where does baby sit against your body when you have it lying in a sling? Should it feel supportive?

I tried to get some pics of me wearing the sling with bubs in it, but it was a little hard with noone but myself to take them... so they dont show very much... would it be helpful to post a pic of bubs in the sling... so others can help? PHOTOS POSTED BELOW.

Thanks in advance for your help. :hugs:

Hmmm if its like a hug-a-bub it can't be too big for you as they tie up around your body... :detective:

Maybe take a pic of it on its own so I know what kind it is?

Mmmm it isnt a hug a bub type... I was thinking of something else... but it isnt coming to me...

Sorry... hard to take a photo with only myself able to take one...

Here (http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e316/megansjunk/P1011135.jpg) it is without bubs.
Here (http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e316/megansjunk/P1011133.jpg) with bubs.
You can see how unsupported her head is here (http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e316/megansjunk/P1011134.jpg).

Its a cotton stuffed outer fabric and a sort of meshy type material in the sling part.

Hey there

Take a look at the calmawrap (http://www.toocoolmums.com.au/pages/default.cfm?page_id=27006) it will show you how to wrap and have pics on how it should look, they say to try in front of a mirror with a teddy or something first.

Hope that helps you.

My site will not help you if it's not a HAB style carrier. hmmm I will wait for the pic.

ETA if it's a baby bjorn style one I found that I had to still hold DS when I had him in it thats why I got a wrap style one

Hey there  yeah I bought one of those type of slings first and it did not work for us either... Very uncomfortable for both of us.
I ended up buying a hug-a-bub (or similar ;)) and found it was wonderful for bubs especially in those early days.

Hopefully someone else can help you with that type of sling

Not that I'm an expert ring sling wearer, but it looks like you've got the pouch too big - bub should be sitting more at waist height than hip height.

Try tightening it up a bit, and then adjust the front/back bits of the tail to hold bub hands free - have a look at http://zolowear.com/WearingCradle.aspx which should help.

They take a bit of practice but personally I love my slings and am glad I persevered - good luck :)

Thanks for your help! I think it is made for someone bigger than me, I am quite small, so will sell and look for something like a hug-a-bub instead.
