hi guys

just wanted to find any other mothers that have had a toddler diagnosed with an abdominal hernia. I took my lil girl to the doctors on monday and this is what they told me she had, she needs to go in for tests next week and probable surgery.......its a lil scary thinking of your lil one having surgery and it would be great if anyone could help me understand what it is, the causes and how the surgery went......

thanks heaps!!!!!!!

What sort of 'tests' is she having?
Does the hernia pop out all the time/ or stays out?
Has it disappeared?
Mine is two and after having a strangulated hernia..there's been no sign of it since. Waiting for it to either happen again....or???

My daughter had a hernia when she was born and when she was hospitalized at 3 mths for Bronchitis.Whilst there the nurses asked a surgeon to come and have a look at her hernia as it was constatly poking out and after giving her a check-up and discussing it with me he thought it was in her best interest to have an operation to fix it as it was around 3 1/2 cms in length and in my opinion was still growing. So she had her operation done at 7mths and was in hospital for one night. The only problem she had was she kept throwing up after the surgery which she then refused to have any more bottles.

I cant remember what causes babies to have hernia's but it is common, but the majority of hernia's do fix themselves.

I hope that has helped out a little..
