Today Ronan made the biggest mess of the 'number 2' variety around the house while I was on the loo. It is the third time this week and I've had enough.

Have attempted toilet training in the past and the moment he's indicated that he's not ready or has had enough of using the toilet, I have put away the step-stool/toilet seat gizmo and waited until he starts to show interest again. I am all for child-led self-toileting.
But I've had enough of the MESS and RIGHT NOW am starting again.

He isn't really telling me when he needs to go though!! Only when he's done something. But his language skills are developing rapidly and everday he is communicating new things to me.

Where online is a great star-chart I can get? He LOVES stickers.

He loves Thomas and Tank so we will get a pack of Thomas jocks.

He thinks that cloth training pants are just another nappy...

Any tips? Advice? Am feeling a bit frazzled about it all...

You could make a train chart...I just drew a really basic train shape then a few carrages on the back which were divided into squares for stickers to go into. I made it so that every day or 2 he would have filled a carrage and he got a small treat (usually just something small like a freddo or a jelly cup or something else he didn't often get). When he had filled the whole train he was allowed to choose a new DVD...he lost interest in the chart after 3 days tho so he never got it, but he toilet trained really quickly anyway and we had no issues...he was 2.5 at the time.

Thanks for those ideas! The train chart sounds great.
He is back in a nappy right now though because he kept saying 'no toilet' and has been crying/whinging all afternoon... Arrgghh.... :banghead:

I won't force him to do anything he's not ready to do, but I get a little peeved when as soon as he poos, that hand is ready to whisk it out of the nappy and spread on his books/bed/sister. I've had ENOUGH!!!!
