I'm just curious to know what position people have the carseat in their car? Centre behind the driver on behind the passenger?
I have mine in the middle as we only have one anchor point & it is in the middle. I am thinking about getting another anchor point put in so I can put the seat on the side as bub is getting bigger & it's getting harder to get her in & out. I was told that it is the safest to have the car seat in the center to reduce the risk of injury in a side collision.
Has anyone else heard this? Is it best to keep it where it is?
Mines behind the passenger. It was in the middle in our old car but thats only because thats where the anchor point was. I haven't heard of it being the safest but I suppose it makes sense. The guy who fitted mine behind the passenger said that out of the two side positions thats the best because most accidents happen on the drivers side.

Yep I've heard that the best place for them is the middle because it minimizes the risk of serious damage to them in a side-on impact.
Mine is in the middle, because that's where the anchor point is. Even if it wasn't I would have gotten one installed in the middle because I have a 2 door hatchback and it's easier to have DS in the middle so I can climb in and out of the car.

Mine is on the Passenger side rear when it is in either car. The SWB Nissan Patrol only has an anchor point on Passenger or Driver's side though the Commodore has 3 mount points (either side and middle).
My DH has mounted our anchor point in the middle because its ment to be safer if there is a side impact and easier to get to bubs if I need to...
We have a hatch back so he has re positioned the mounting point to just behind the chair so the strap doesnt need to go all the way across the boot..
Don't worry he is a mechanic and his job to fit carseats just incase you were wondering why he has done it himself...
But I am sure there wouldnt be any harm if you bub buts on the passenger side if it makes it easier for you
At first we had ours on the back passenger side, but then someone nearly hit me on bubs side,so I put it in the middle,I believe it's safer there.

I had exactly the same thing nearly happen to me. It really scares you and the seat has been in the middle since. :)
Hi Avasmum,
We were told the middle is the safest because of side impacts and also because airbags can push the driver or passenger seat back into the capsule.
I don't know if this is "offical" advice, but that's why we use the middle. It is a bit hard to get bubs out, but it does provide easier access for you from the driver's seat.

we also have our seat in the centre of the car. I think that it is the safest place, as others have already said :)
We have our baby seat behind the front passenger seat in our 4wd. Its just impossibel to have it in the centre seat - both due to the design of the seat (both car and baby) and for logistical purposes.
But in DH's company car, we put it in the centre seat. I still have to partly climb in the car to put DS in, but he likes to be able to see straight ahead, and its easier to see him.

When DD#1 was born we had the car seat behind the passenger.
Then DD#2 came along so we put DD#2 car seat behind the passenger and DD#1 car seat in the middle as we had interstate visiters who could only sit behind driver.
We meant to change DD#1 seat to behind the driver but never go around to it.
Now it is actually good because she can keep an eye on DD#2 and tell me if she is asleep or awake or has vomitted. (believe it or not DD#1 doesn't annoy or poke DD#2 from this position either).
