The following tips will start your path to a healthier body:
Take a 10-minute "walk break" instead of a "coffee break" at work
Walk the kids all the way to school
Do resistance activities while waiting in line
Exercise for 10 minutes at a time. Whether it's walking, working out to an exercise video or lifting light weights, three 10-minute bouts add up to the 30 minutes of exercise that experts recommend you do on most days of the week!
Take 10 minutes to vacuum, garden, or push the lawn mower around
Take your dog for a 10-minute walk and burn kilojoules in the process!
Make your next 10-minute walk a meditative experience. Focus on your breathing. Be conscious of your posture. Feel your stride. See how awareness can relax your body and rejuvenate your spirit.

Hi,
I've just come across your great thread @ a much needed time.
I need motivating, my bub is now 6mths & I've lost 23kgs since having her in August......however, most of that was lost in the first 2mths & i've basically crawled, gone forwards then backwards ever since.
Any advice will be helpful. I live near the water/walking paths so no excuses. I have an ab revolutionizer that I LOVE but when I don't go for my power walks, I tend not to bother about working on my poor abs.
What foods should I be eating that will give me extra energy as I feel tired & HUNGRY all the time.
Cheers

how is everyone today?:D
Morning,
Well I thought that I better mention to you that I have already been working out, so far I have lost 4.5kgs, 4.5cm off waist and 5.5cm of hips. I still have another 16.5kgs to go. DF and I have finally picked a month to get married, October.
I am waiting for the arrival of the hotpants workout dvd and some other one, Stupid me can't remember. This is a list of things I have been doing skipping, jogging, walking, crunches, bum things (don't know what they are called), lunges , squats, leg lifts and a few things on my exercise ball. I try to do more then half an hour a day. Try to. My main problem is food. I either don't eat or when I do its mainly **** food.
Is there anyway you could help at all?

Low-fat cooking can be a cinch; all it takes is a few simple shortcuts. Our cooking techniques will help you create delicious and healthy low-fat meals.
1. Grilling
Fat drips away, leaving a rich, robust flavour. Steaks, chops, fish and sliced vegetables are all ready in minutes. Fat-free marinades tenderise and add flavour.
Quick Tip: Coat the grill plate with a non-stick oil spray.
2. Roasting
Cooking on a rack coated with vegetable oil spray, or in an uncovered shallow pan at 180°C or higher. To seal in the juices, increase the oven temperature up to 230°C for the first 15 minutes.
Quick Tip: Keep lean cuts moist by pre-marinating or basting with a seasoned broth, wine or juice.
3. Sauteing/Stir-Frying
Pan-cooking over medium (sauteing) or high (stir-frying) heat. Use olive oil, or your choice of flavoured vegetable oil spray, water, broth, wine, flavoured vinegars or citrus juice.
Quick Tip: If you do use regular oil, use a touch of a strongly flavoured one such as extra virgin olive, hot sesame or peanut oil. You’ll get twice the flavour with much less fat.
4. Crumbing
Dip the food into a mix of 1 tablespoon non- fat milk and 1 egg white, and coat with crushed, whole-grain cereal/low fat crackers/seasoned breadcrumbs. Brown in a shallow pan coated with vegetable oil spray or bake at 200°C in a non-stick baking tray.
Quick Tip: Chicken tenderloins or boneless pork loin work great!
5. Rubs/Marinades
Coating (rubbing) poultry or fish with a dry herb/spice blend or paste to add flavour and seal in juices. Covering with a liquid (marinating) to keep lean cuts moist or to tenderise with acidic ingredients (e.g. wine, juice, yogurt, vinegar).
Quick Tip: The easiest way is in a plastic, zipper-style bag. No mess, no fuss and your food gets full coverage.

All your meal ideas sound fantastic!!
At the moment ive lost 32kg :smiliedance: I've had a personal trainer guiding me along so far and he said that if I have no more loss this week that we'll have to look more closely at my diet because I'm doing pretty full on work outs at the moment. Hello....just wanted to see what you thought of the plan my fellow at the gym has given me....
I weigh 90 kilos at the mo' (terrible  ), size 16 and want to be a size 12....goal is to loose 20 kgs by October to start trying for #2.
Currently, my programme at the gym is each week:-
2 x Body Pump Classes
2 x 40 minute cardio (bike, crosstrainer, treadmill) - getting my heart rate up to 150
2 x weights sessions...he gave me about 7 different ones to do...some focus on my core strength as I have issues with my back
Eventually I want to add maybe a simple step class into my workout week.
So what do you think?
Re my eating, I have just cut out ****, alot less rice, pasta, bread....more vegies...generally I don't eat that bad anyway...I have just been very lazy and under active since bub was born.
Thanks.

hey guys how are we all?
Morning, How are you?
This here is what I have done so far today.
Biggest Loser 2 (The Workout)
Women High-Intensity - 10mins
Women Power Sculpt - 10mins
Boot Camp - 15mins
Functional Flexibility - 10mins
TOTAL= 45mins
For breakfast- 4weetbix, 1/2 cup full-cream milk, um 3.5tspns sugar
Thinking about having a cuppa as I have a headache.
Is this alright so far?
I copied your recipes so I will start them off once I go to town.

ok seems like way too much weights. are you a beginner? when did you last do weights (apart from when you posted about being sore?)
also, BIG mistake cutting out carbs.
you are doing weight training- YOU NEED CARBS.
cutting them out is a bad idea. try switching to brown or wholegrain alternatives. you also need protein. chicken, tuna, cottage cheese.
good luck and try not to push yourself too hard or you will get an injury/make yourself sick and be unable to do anything.

oh, trust me I still eat carbs.....I have just cut back a hell of alot ie I used to eat 4 pieces of bread a day, now maybe one....plus just decreased my serving size of rice, pasta.
i have issues with my lower back so alot of my weigh training is to do with strengthening my stomach muscles and back.
i will probably cut out one body pump class and swap to a step as I do think its too much weights as well....although my weights session is only for about 20 mins 2 x per week...that should be too much should it?
hmm, even when i was doing weights religiously, I was only 'allowed' to do it three times a week.
so one 30 min PT, a pump class and my weight program.
I also have lower back issues, just be very very careful you do your exercises correctly or it can be worse for you.
step is awesome and very good for your thighs and bum:thumbsup:
step is awesome and very good for your thighs and bum:thumbsup:
Just wondering how could I do step at home?
As I would love to have a tight butt and even smaller thighs.
im pretty sure you can get videos/dvds. and sports shops sell the steps. I would only use a proper one, less chance of falling off:yes:.
can you go to a gym that does a step class? they are so much fun:smiliedance:
you will probably find a step will cost more than going to the gym. (and at the gym you can do other things too)
otherwise, have a look for ffrenchstars thread she posted about at home execise, things like squats and lunges are good, as is pilates and stretch classes.
ETA after 3 months of step, my instructor said she could hardly recognise me from behind, cos my shape had changed so much. and that was doing 2 step classes a week

Hi,
Thanks for that but I live an hour and half from the closest gym so probably not really worth it. Money wise.
I did purchase the Hotpants DVD and the Biggest Loser 2 Workout. I have done both of them once know as I only got them on Monday. The Biggest Loser one is great. It has a lot of squats and lunges in it. So know I have more things to do with my exercise ball.
Thanks anyway.
hmm, thats a bit sucky then! you can get some great leg and bum workouts with a fit ball:thumbsup:
I would probabaly die without my gym:o but its a 10 min walk away. 2 if you drive, which I dont:laughing:

He barely eats things like that. We have friends here tonight so might give it to them.

Hi ladies,
Thought I better report in with what i've been doing these last few days.
Exercise:
Yesterday - 5km p/walk & 1km jog
Today - 4km p/walk, 1km jog, 225 sit-ups (crunches, sides etc)
My aim is to eventually be able to jog 3km's however, I know I need to just continue being consistant & slowly build my way up. It can be very challenging jogging with a pram that ain't a stroller/jogger. Spinning wheels ain't good. Some days I'll park DD on the hill & run around it. Where theres a will theres a way!
I love to treat myself to yummy wine & cheese/crackers. ;)

well done thats so good keep it up and you will get there and it's ok to have a treat every now and then.
Hello,
Okay well I still don't seem to be losing weight.
Yesterday I went for a 2.3km walk. Doing intervals of walking-power-jogging.
This is what I ate also:
1.5 hotdogs
2 cups milo (4tspns milo)
homemade vegie puff
1 piece lemon crumbed fish (oven)
2 cream biscuits, 3 plain biscuits
1.5L water
1/2 can of coke
1 cup lite cordial
I can't seem to give up my milo but the tin is getting rather low though. Once I had the first cup yesterday I was ready for a walk.
What am I doing wrong, I know I need to change my diet.
I am hoping to go for another long walk this arvo. Well to ge the mail which is 1km there and 1km back.

how are your meal sizes and junk food in take as that can all be a part of it i love that your working out thats good keep that up.:yelclap:
I don't eat rather big meals. Junk food isn't too bad but could be better.
Is milo playing a part in this?
So far today I have had a bowl of some fibre stuff with a handleful of all bran.
I might have a cuppa though so that I will make it to lunch without eating. For lunch I am having a sadwhich with, tomato, cucmber, cheese.

if you feel like eating some thing have some cut up veg ready 4 when you feel like eating a snack and see how that go's and with working out try doing something like running/walking one day then a work out video the next to mix it up.

I have finally lost 500gms and another 1.5cm off my waist. I don't snack at all. If I get hungry inbetween meals I usually have some more water or cuppa tea.
I have been alternating with workouts aswell. Today I don't think I will be able to go for a walk as its been showering.Might do the Biggest Loser Workout.

try having some veg and not that cupper as that can add on to your weight and you don't even know it so maybe cut down to one a day.

I usually only have 1 a day. I think that I am not losing much coz I am breast feeding.

Hello I wonder if you can help me:) . Just wondering how I can lose some fat without losing all this muscle which I have worked for? From what I have read if I do straight dieting I will lose some of it. Would rather hold on to it if I could even if it takes longer to get rid of the flab:thumbsup: . Just a bit of a jelly belly and fairly big thighs:laughing: ...not looking for miracles:laughing:
