View Full Version : Stupid things your dog does!

God love my dog but he's such a psycho. He's a 4yo Jack Russell so bounces off the walls anyway but the silly (& cute) things he does can range from:

barking at the plug hole when I empty DD's bath (I have to shut the door so his barking doesn't scare her). He hates the slurpping noise it makes.
Trying to get through his doggy door about 50 times before he actually does. He pushes it with his nose and lets it swing and swing but can't seem to work out that he has to go through once it's swinging.
Our couch is next to our front door so if he sees DH come home he runs from one side of the couch to the other. I think he thinks there's another door on the other side of the couch
Waiting at our corner cupboard in the kitchen - he knows that where we keep his smackos.
Howling when the phone rings; and
Scratching at his bed like he is digging a holeThere are a heap more silly things but honestly he thinks he's a human.

He leaves his hair EVERYWHERE (I'm constantly vacuuming - any tips) but I still love him to death.

Well this is not that silly but yesterday our dog started to dig his way to China under our back fence and guess what he got stuck and has dislocated his hip and has now cost us $180 for an x ray and an extra $500 for surgery. Money I don't have but I s'pose these things happen and I cannot put our dog to sleep it's our two year old's best friend.

My dog is a purebred boxer, and she loves to play with DS's Tonka truck out the backyard! I kid you not, she sees the way DS pushes it around and she will either nudge it with her nose, or she will put her paw on the front part of the truck and she pushes it along!.. I swear she thinks she is just like a kid!.. I do actually have footage of this occurence on my computer out there for the non-believers!..

When her and DS are outside playing I usually end up having to separate them, because they fight like kids.. If DS has a toy she wants, she will go up and take it off him and vice versa, if DS wants a toy that she has.. All you hear is either a bark or a howling kid throwing a tantrum!..

Our dog certainly has her own personalilty, and she has a Boxer face that only a mother could love!..

Ah Jen that's hilarious...

I just thought of another thing he does. He loves to nip at the bag on the lawnmower...

My nan used to have this freak of a dog- Jack Russell cross chihahua. My pop was in a chair as he couldnt walk after a stroke. When we let Gringo in, he would literally race (soooo fast) down the hallway, and when he reached the loungeroom, he would take a flying leap right across the room and land on pops lap. Sometimes, he would miss his lap and end up slamming head first into a cupboard or the wall.

He also used to climb up onto my pops lap and eat his tea off his plate when my nan wasnt looking.

lachies_mum, you had me in stitches reading about the dog hitting the wall! The picture i had in my head of it was priceless!

Mine (blue cattle dog) has an obsession with catching flies....he's like a cat, jumping and carrying on!

He also pushes his big enduroball round the yard like he's playing soccer, and makes the most noise while doing it, it was bought to keep him occupied and quiet, now he's noisier than before!

He chases the water form the hose obsessively, like, whenever you turn it on, even if its only to wash your hands or something...gets annoying when you're trying to water the garden .

He fights over his soft dog bed with DD2 (who likes to lay on it if it's out in the yard). She lays on it and he comes and pulls it out from under her, and she goes after him and takes it back and so forth.

Shazbutt I think we have the same dog!

My mini foxy loves to play soccer too, she does growls at the ball as she pushes it along.
Chases birds, bats and cats out of our yard.
Sits on the edge of the lounge (cause she can see the front door) and "greets" anyone going past.
Sleeps on DH pillow when we go out (much to DH's disgust).
Humps the cats head (and the cat lets it  )

And way too many other things to mention.

Haha, my late foxie used to try and do our female cat too! Except he'd do the proper end and she'd nearly let him!

Our two Newfoundlands who I nicknamed Dumb & Dumber (who's Dumber varies depending on the day! ) - well, we love them to death but they wouldn't be winning any intelligence challenges that's for sure!!

They spend a lot of their day under the house, especially in summer, and after all these years, neither of them have the gist of the fact that they need to duck when they get up! They just smash their heads into the floor, quite often we'll be sitting here in the lounge room and all of a sudden - BANG! The floor moves and its Louie or Lola standing up - its gotta hurt, even though their sculls are made of cement I'm sure! We've had visitors over when this has happened and they freak out - its like 'WHAT WAS THAT????'

We have a reverse situation here too in that Lola mounts Louie, and he just stands there like a big wuzz and a dopey look on his face! The one time we saw him try to have a go with Lola, he actually mounted her sideways - he clearly had no idea what he was doing. DH and I were watching from the kitchen and DH said "he's an embarrassment to males everywhere".

Our two are so funny. Kya is the more serious one and the more 'mature' one out of the two. She is cattle x akita. Some of the little things she does

- runs around in tiny circles when she hears the car pull up, hears the door open or when she knows she's going to get food.
- 'roo roo roooo' is her little greeting when she sees us after a long time
- she (gently)bites Kodys (our other dogs) ankles when she feels he is getting too much attention from us and makes him fall over
- she gets kody into trouble all the time. When he was a tiny puplet, we put cardboard up at the back door so they couldn't get in but could see in still. Kody used to haul himself half over the cardboard with his front paws and kya would be at his backside pushing him up and over with her head.
-cocks her head on one side and makes you powerless to resist her charms
-hollows out a little dirt patch each morning to lie in and sunbake (she's a little odd)

Kody (the young and restless) is akita x retriever. He always

-loves the squeaky toys. He will roll or drop it in a hole Kya has dug for him, cover it up then jump on it and will dig it up again and repeat the process over and over
- still with squeaky toys. He has a shell pool (because he loves water) that he will dump his toy into then try to jump/step on it in the water, pick it up in his mouth and then drop it in the water again and jump on it etc. (he's a loony)
-shoves his whole muzzle in the water when he drinks (I have no idea how he doesn't get water up his nose)
-when kya and him are playing chaseys and he is losing he will bolt for the shell pool and leap into it (because kya hates water and won't touch him)
-if he sees we have food or treats he will go through everything we have taught him (sit, down, high five, dance etc) to see if we want him to do one of those to get the food.
- at our old place we had an inground pool and we had another young female retriever stay with us for awhile. She accidentally pushed one of her toys into the water and she was running up and down the pool whining. Kody comes along and lies down at the pools edge and starts paddling the water with his paw until the toy came past him and he could pick it out for her. He's soo sweet!

So - theres our two!:smiliedance:

We have two dogs, a liver spotted dalmatian (kinki) and a chocolate lab (DJ) and they are BOTH crazy. When you ask Kinki if someone is at the door instead of going to the door or window she runs to the security sensors (theres two) to see if the lights are flashing. DJ has started to eat the carpet. It started the other day when we were attempting to take his photo and he saw the flash on the carpet (both dogs are obsessed with light) and now he always walks around ramming his nose into the carpet.
they are nuts but I love them both

my little fox terrier indianna (indy) got into big trouble the other day. DH put kebabs on the bbq we had been dieting and were so looking forward to our treat!. bbq ran out of gas so DH came in to get a plate while i put the frying pan on. DH went back out side and started yelling. indy had climbed up the stairs and jumped onto the cold side of the bbq and was eating our kebabs including the sticks!!!!!!!! how she didnt get burnt is beyond me cos she is not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Oh I love this thread!!! I have been gigglign so much! - I sooooo relate to the carpet eating, couch running, psyco pup things!

We have 2 Rotti's Jay and Asi. Jay is the gentle giant, asi is the psyco pup! Jay likes to "hide" things.. like my Thermomitor, OPK strips basically all my TTC stuff, as well as Jox and Bra's. Ive found so many Bra's in my backyard.. neighbours must really wonder:laughing:
If I leave the washing basket near teh back door, he takes everything outside, peice by peice, and hides it.. Luckily, he is not a great Hider, so under a tree, in teh sandpit, in his Kennel are as creative as he has gotton (so far!)

Asi likes to chase jay, and run underneath his legs and bite him on his manly bits.. Very very odd. She Barks at Fly's Does not chase and eat them like jay, But Barks, runs to us, runs to the fly barking like "Mum, there is a FLY! HELP!"
 I love my Fur babies

Scratching at his bed like he is digging a hole

My dog does this too, she also digs at our bath mat when we're in the shower and then tries to lick the water off our legs when we get out, we have to lock her out.

She also thinks ice cubes are treats, she gets sooo excited when i open the freezer and if i give her one she just goes crazy, chases it around and plays with it for ages and then sits down and chomps on it. :D

Spike (a staffy X) loves to eat icecubes, salad (with dressing), oranges, pretty much anything we eat.

He also cant catch to save himself. He sits there waiting for food so you throw him a piece and it will hit him in the head, drop on the ground and then he eats it.

You would think he could catch being a dog but nooo...we arent sure if its laziness or stupidity but I am erring on the stupidity side!
