Hi girls,
well Dh is off to have his swimmers tested tomorow and he is VERY nervous, understandably. (great valentines day to us!!!)
Has anyone else's DH had this? do you know what 'amount' or result is good to get?
Sorry this is worded a bit weirdly!
Thanks
Em.

Hi Emma.... My dh had his swimmers tested a couple of months back and it came back something like 239 million sperm with greater than >60% motility and mobility. I think the motility and mobility is more of what they are looking for cause we know it only takes 1. Good luck to your dh :fingerscrossed: for a good result. I know mine was pretty embarassed as well, but he then felt very relieved when we got the results back.
DH had his swimmers tested before we started fertility treatment. his came back ok, very very slightly lower than average but they said it wouldnt affect our chances at all (i have PCOS which is why we were getting the treatment)
He wouldnt 'do it' there so did it at home in a cup and raced there within 30 minutes (which was only just do-able from our place!) to drop his 'sample' off!
They will tell you the results and what they mean when they are tested... oh and the 'ammount' doesnt matter, it is generally only a small amount anyway i think. Remember even in a teaspoon of the stuff there would be billions (possibley gazzilions!) of the little buggers!

my dh has hes tested last month hes came back abit more than average, he found it really hard to do the job at the hosp took him for ever to do it so if ur hubby can do it at home its prob better that way so he can take hes time and not feel rushed. didnt help my DH that all hes work mates were texting him flat out when he was in the little booth trying to do the test!! lol
Hi Emma. My dh has had this done too. They will give you a print out saying what the results need to be and what your dh's results are. The count is supposed to be over 20 million. My dh had a count of 220 million and slightly reduced motility. Good luck I hope the results are all good:thumbsup: My dh also took the test at home - there was no way he was going to the hospital to do it :p

My poor DH has had to do it 4 times :( poor bugger! (this is because he's had bad results  ). With the 1st one he missed the container for the first bit (tmi!!!), and this is the bit with the most spermies (so make sure your DH has good aim :D ). Don't worry if the results arn't good because sometimes they can be bad at one time and excellent the next (so the docs never rely on only 1 test result if it is low).
Sperm count <20 million is low, and < 10 million means IVF is needed (but it also depends on motility etc)
 good luck emma's DH!

Hi Em..Thought I'd add in my DH's count and we have been ttc for 12 months with 2 m/c prior to that. His count was 210 million with 70% motility and 25% abnormal forms and his total volume was 3ml... LOL...I know its important but its kind of funny comparing them all.It also commented that the "forward progression" was average so I don't know if that means average as in average "bad" or as in "average" that its normal?? but the overall comment was "all measured semen paramters are normal".Hope this helps.Good luck :fingerscrossed: Let us know how it goes.
