Hmm - as a new clothie I am getting a little concerned about winter approaching. It rained all yesterday, of course the day i had my nappies on the undercover line to dry! We put them on the clothes airer inside last night, but thehemp still feels a little damp. I checked the settings on my dryer, and it would appear we have the Semi featured model - shich has dryness settings, but no temperature settings. :banghead: I have put them in the dryer once before (to finish of drying) and the BBBamboo came out with really hot snaps, so i figured it was too hot (they weren't in for long, i kept checking as i was woried about it! - lol)
Does anyone else have a dryer like this (Fisher & Paykel - won't buy again!!)? Would they be OK drying infront of a gas heater (obviously not too close - lol)

i normally put clothes near the heater to dry in winter (we dont have a dryer) so i gather nappies would be ok too. Ive just made sure ive stocked up on heaps LOL

I have a F&P dryer and I totally love it!!

Might pay to get a few more nappies so that if it does rain through winter you don't get caught out. I make sure I have 2 dozen per child.

:smiliedance: Whoo Hoo! Does that mean I can go shopping?!?!?!?!

Tan - I'm a bit worried too... I have a dryer with a delicate switch, but worry that it still may damage them!
I'm sure putting them in front of a heater would be ok though...

Buy flats to tide you over.... That's what I will be doing.. they dry so fast too, and you can put them on high in the dryer. Even if you use them to stuff pockets with (if you are scared of folding, lol). Today Olivia will be in flats, as I don't want to put the nappies in the dryer when today is nice and sunny.

Flats are a great idea. We have quite a few flats and prefolds so in Winter these will get a good work out.
I don't have a dryer and nowhere really to dry them cept outside (yes we need a bigger house)

Until a few months ago we didn't have a dryer and I used terry flats. I had heaps of PUL pockets so they dried really quickly and just stuffed them with flats.

Thanks:thumbsup: I have about 10 Terry flats now & 2 bamboo ones on layby. I have been practising my folds and using the snappy to put them on dolls, so i can be an expert when DS arrives

The biggest prob is DD - she cried & ripped off the terry flats when i put them on her - but i have a few pockets, so I can use the flats as stuffers for them!! Didn't think about that. I was hoping she'd be out of nappies, but she just doesn't show interest in TT, so i am not pushing it. I'll have about 26 MCN (keep loosing track of how many i've laybyed everywhere :D ) plus 12 flats - so hopefully that might keep me out of trouble.

Maybe try dyeing the flats bright pink or something, she might keep them on that way.

(Yes, I'm still on my nappy dyeing rampage, lol.)

I put mine on a clothes horse under a fan and that dries them a bit quicker. Should be fine in front of a heater too. Flats and PUL pockets help too! PUL pockets (with fleece inners) dry super fast, and we use a couple of face washers folded up (ends up 6 layers) as boosters in them- they dry pretty fast too. Faster than other boosters

 Cool idea - maybe just half, so DH will still let me use them on DS! I have a new cover on order for her too so hopefully that will help convince her how spunky she looks.

 Hey just wanted to let you know that last week during Nth QLD's 'big wet', I had to put mine through the dryer multipul times over the rainy weeks- and they were totally fine

Mine doesn't have heat on it either, so I put them all in for a bit (normal setting)- took out the pockets, then put the rest on for about an hour. My bamboo nappies needed about a half hour after that to dry completely

Actually did them all wonders! All the hemp and bamboo came out super soft, and I've had no problems since. All back out in the sun now though.

I've often had to use the dryer because I don't get to the washing until 10pm, and everythings fine. My dryer only has 2 settings "warm", "high", and I use warm without problems.

Oh - and I don't put it on for a full cycle...its about 4- 5- minutes drying time I think?

Oh I SO wish I had a dryer!! Then again.... they can be a bit pricey to run and I just KNOW I'd get lazy and use it when I shouldn't..

Thankfully the motor for the deep freeze keeps the laundry pretty toasty in winter- it's a good place for the clothes airer
