Does anyone know what the normal progesterone levels are just after ovulation? I had a p4 test done last friday (at 2dpo) and got the results today and they were at 2. What does this mean? On the test they put it down to being in the follicular stage. I couldn't be as i ovulated before the test was done. Any advice would be appreciated as i think i am going insane. I am going to ring my doctor and speak to her tomorrow about my levels.
Thanks heaps.

Hi Relle,
Unfortunately its hard to say. You would normally get the p4 done at about 7dpo when progesterone levels are peaking. It COULD be that you had ovulated, but I really dont know numbers for 2dpo...sorry! I would def talk to your dr about it tho and keep bd'ing in the meantime in case you havent O'd yet. How do you know you O'd if you dont mind me asking? Did you get a +opk and temp shift?
Good luck hon!!
Are you absolutely sure you Ovulated? The only way to tell would be to have another BT and check the levels to see if they have risen again.
Im sure they vary from person to person but here were my 2 Clomid cycles. I had NO progesterone or other leutal phase support in these cycles so they should match a natural cycle.
Not sure if they help...
1st Cycle:
Day of O - 2.6
3dpO - 7.9
7dpO - 36
10dpO - 39
2nd Cycle:
1dpO - 6
8dpO - 29

Rellebelle - that sounds very strange. If you had ovulated it should def have been higher. Is there any chance that you didn't ovulate?

Thankyou everyone. I definietly think that i ovulated. I had stabbing pains on my left side on day 20, my cervix was high and soft and i had EWCM. Here is a link to my chart: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/1870f1/?a=2123755&u=1&
I had tried using the opk's but they just didn't seem to be working for me so i gave them up. Since last week my nipples have been very tender and i have had some mild cramping everyday. So my p4 should have definitely been higher then? I have already pretty much resigned myself from this cycle. I'm on a TTC break for two months after this cycle finishes as DH will be away for one month and then i just want a rest. I might try one more clomid cycle and then that is it for me, i just will not be having anymore children (unless i get a miracle). I cannot stand the heartache anymore, after TTC # 2 for 4 and a half years now. Thankyou

Oh sweetheart, :hugs: :hugs:
You definitely know your body better than anyone else, but I reckon you might not have O'd yet. Im no expert, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but even your temps suggest that you may have yet to ovulate and may have done so (depending on the next few days' temps) yesterday. Is that possible at all?? I get stabbing pains in my ovaries a lot, but havent O'd in 2 years...I also get ewcm and have show with my cervix...it can all be so deceiving, hey? Like I said, if you really think you did O, then Im not here to tell you otherwise...I just dont think you should write off the cycle just yet.
As for quitting ttc...there are SO many other options that are available to you. Clomid can help yes, but thats only the tip of the iceberg! I dont know your history or anything, but I just wanted to say dont be discouraged! 4 years IS a long time to wait...but that doesnt mean you werent "meant" to have another child! You already know all this Im sure, but I just wanted to encourage you not to give up! :hugs:
We're here if you need us...to vent, to cry, whatever!!

Big :hugs: to you sorry that you are feeling down. As far as I am aware they usually do the test a week after ovulation as the levels need time to rise. I would go back to the doc and see if they can check it again when it has been a week after O. :fingerscrossed: you get the results that you are after.

I agree Relle - see if you can get another p4 done!

Thankyou very much for the support and :hugs: . I don't know what is going on with me lately, i really feel like i am in such a big black hole. :gloomy: I need to snap out of it i think and look on the bright side of life more. I do have another slip for a day 21 progesterone blood test sitting here (which was meant to be for next month). I should get it done again, as today is 7dpo (according to fertility friend), just to see if my levels went up from last week. My next doc appointment is in two weeks so i will discuss all this with her and see what she thinks.
Thanks again,
relle

Funny thing happened to me today. I was just about to go and have a shower so i could run down to the blood clinic and get my blood drawn and thought what the hell i might do a opk just to see what came up. It came up almost positive, and very quickly too. I have never, ever seen it get this dark before. Still it's not as dark as the control line so i think the surge is on it's way out. I think that you girls are right and that i did only ovulate a couple of days ago just after i had that other temp drop and then it started to rise again. I guess i am lucky that DH and i decided to bd then as i had ewcm again and thought what the hell - just in case IYKWIM. Thankyou, i think this has started to perk me up a bit more so i will go and take the other p4 test next wednesday just to see how i went. Maybe there is hope for me yet?
