I'm being very positive and have already bought two maternity tops and am seriously looking at some more Green Kids nappies - as soon as I can afford the layby down payment - I'm on board!

All I'll be getting this time though is a few odds and ends, more clothies and maternity clothes as I have a beautiful baby set up sitting in storage. Now that I'm thinking of it though, I could do with a change table - never had one of those.....:D

I very nearly almost bought a toy for bubs today but it was a bit too girly and I thought that as I only had a 50% chance of them using it..... better wait....

No I haven't bought anything yet, remember my DH doesn't even know yet!!

I have a friend who has her 2nd baby due in 4 weeks, I will probably buy some newborn clothing for the new arrival and may even get something for my bubba. However I am thinking to using MCN with my DD and the new bubs. I did use cloth with DD for the 1st 6 mtths, but once I started working parttime, I went to 'sposies.

I have only bought a couple of little unisex outfits and some toys; a HUGE Heffalump (Winnie the Pooh series), night time Tigger, set of 3 Pooh toys, some newborn/young baby books and a few other things like a Tupperware shape sorter and Tupperware blocks. Allot of the stuff I actually bought when TTCing! Actually... come to think of it all of it was! (although the Heff & Tigger toys I got when I had technically conceived but I didnt know it yet!)
I have also got a few sample things like nappies a dummy, breast pads, creams, ointments etc etc from a Prengncy & baby expo we went to last year when we were just starting to TTC (and didnt realise how long it would take!).. I have also since visited web sites and emailed businesses for samples (from looking in the freebies section on BH) and am going to the same expo again which is coming up in March... a girlfriend is coming with me (as DH will be working) and she is all set to collect samples for me to so Ill have double! (can you tell I like freebies! :D )

We went to some baby shops on the weekend and are starting to look into buying nursery things, I want to shop around for the furnature as I want to get the best price I can (we are getting items from the Boori range). I am keen to buy and so is DH, I dont think we will necessarily wait unitl the 12 week mark. Im not afraid to jinx it.. although having said that my friend told me to help conceive to put yellow booties in the nursery (done), put dark sheets on your bed (3 out of our 4 sets are dark) and dont vaccum under your bed.... DH was doing the vaccuming on the weekend and stopped to ask me if he can vacuum under the bed yet... I said NO, not until after 12 weeks! The things we do...

woh... sorry for the long post!

We have everything already but I am planning to buy a new Phil and Teds Sport buggy, a funky new baby sling and hubby is going to make a new single bed for our little princessca. But he also said he was going to make a cot when I was pregnant last time... 28 weeks, still nothing. So I went out and bought one. So we will see what happens!

You must have allot of self control Jo! I went into Baby Target yesterday since it was near the supermarket where I was going (same shopping complex) and came out with 4 outfits a wrap/rug and a crinkle toy/book for baby!

I've also bought a maternity top and another similar top (but not technically maternity) to start to wear now to hide my bloating/bump! They dont really give it away but my problem is that I have always had a pretty flat stomach and would wear tight fitting tops to work so now i am trying to find all my looser tops to wear instead!

lol Nicole, yes I am very controled with my spending lol, i don't want to buy to much yet, will after 12wks though, but I know hubby will tell me off, cause he doesn't like me buying till i'm past 24wks, but thats ages away lol

Kristy I can't wait to buy a pram either, like Kyahli I don't have any baby stuff here really, just a few bits and peices, I sold or gave away most of DS2 stuff, so only have a few winter stuff from him, which isn't suitable here, cause DS2 was born in NZ winter lol

I am itching to buy stuff. Been collecting a few little things sice we were TTC like dummies, wipes, nappy bag, a few unisex sale items, lots of toys, activity mat, a rocker. Gee actually I guess I have already been buying a bit  . Nothing big though until the 12 weeks but we are looking around at prices and I want to choose the pram I want and car seat so then I can keep an eye out for when it is on sale. I am such a planner!!! We are also going to wait to buy a lot of stuff till I know what sex my little jelly bean is going to be :smiliedance: .

I put a cot and chest of drawers on layby! :smiliedance:
Mitch will be 16 months when the new bubba's born, so I thought I'd get one of those cots that turn onto a toddler size bed for Mitch to go into, untill he's ready for a big bed.

Oooh I can't wait to get a new pram I think we are getting the Phil and teds too.

I think I will wait till bubs is born for a cot we still have the bassinet so the only other thing that we need is a carseat. Oh and cute little pink things if it's a girl.

AnD05
03-03-2007, 03:19 PM
Well, I have been given a bassinet, rocking chair, toy box and laundry basket that match, jolly jumper, rocker, activity mat, high chair and various boys clothes from my SIL.Also been given a Bugaboo pram  So that's all settled.

We bought a sleigh cot and matching change table in Jan from ToysRUs as it was on sale :) . I couldnt help myself, I had seen it last time I was preg but they had sold out when we got there, so this time I thought bugger it!

I've been given quite a few mat clothes from both SIL's so I think Im pretty right in that dept!

I've also been buying small odds and ends, like toys and clothes for a while now too. For some reason I keep going to the pink stuff, I think it's wishful thinking as I have 6 nephews and am only used to seeing blue!

Gee I've got a fair bit don't I! I'm sure I will find an excuse to keep buying stuff though!!

Wow!!! I can't believe you guys have bought so much stuff already. Maybe I'm just very cautious, but I'm trying to wait until I have reached 12 weeks before I start shopping. I have a little all in one romper suit, some mat jeans and top for me and that's it. We will try to get DD into her own bed, so we can use the sleigh cot for the new baby, or at least get a bassinette for our room for the first month or so. We have a car seat in each car, so we may get a capsule for the first 6 months and then move the 2nd car seat into one car, so its got two.

I'm undecided about the pram issue. Before I was pregnant, we got at Xmas time a stroller, so we have that for DD, plus our old pram (which we haven't sold yet but plan to **hint hint for any 1st time mums out there **). I am not sure whether to get a double pram or just use DD in the stroller and sling for the newborn....will see.

wow everyone has got heaps more stuff than I have,

I don't have a cot, I need a pram, I don't have a bassinett, I don't have a bath, or change table, I only have a couple of clothes from DS and the body suit I brought the other day, i need a carseat, blankets, sheets, you name it I kneed it lol

btw Zenifa what kind of pram are you selling???? (wink wink) :D

zenifa
04-03-2007, 10:26 AM
Its a Voyager by Swallow (sold in most BabyCo shops), its adjustable backrest, reversible handles, built in sunshade that folds out, adjustable height for steering, easy to steer and use, folds up easily and isn't too heavy. If anyone is interested they can PM me, I can email photos and give more details. Its just that I have 2 prams now and don't need this one, its in excellent condition.

I have a chest of drawers with a change mat on it, instead of a change table, we used our laundry as the baby bath for the first few months and then moved DD into a normal bath so we don't have a baby bath either. I don't have a basinette either, as DD went straight into a cot from birth, but we may need one for this bub.

I just had a look at the voyager pram, I was hopeing it was a 3 wheeler lol, I've got a 4 wheeler already, but I want a 3 wheeler cause I have to walk off road quite often here

zenifa thats a good idea about the change mat on a set of draw's, i'll have to get a set of draws as well, will be fun shopping for this one lol

Well i havent bought anything for the baby - I will go out and celebrate at the shops when I hit the 12 week mark.

The only thing i did buy from ebay yesterday was a fetal doppler - so I can hear the baby heart beat - Even though it's a bit to early to hear it but I can't wait

Kewe
04-03-2007, 01:16 PM
oh cool rachael, can I ask how much it cost? I have thought about getting one, but i'll be a wreak if i couldn't find the heart beat one day

Yeah I got it for $50 plus postage. But it's been used - I think you can buy new ones on ebay for about $100 or maybe even less.

Kewe
04-03-2007, 01:32 PM

Gizmo I just did a search on ebay and there is one for buy it now for $79.95 plus $15 postage.

I think its worth it for peace of mind, but DH doesnt agree 'why waste money on that'
MEN - they just dont understand.

04-03-2007, 01:48 PM

Wow I would love to get a fetal doppler but there is just so much other stuff I need. Would love to know what you think of it Rachael, when you go to use it!

We are very lucky, I have a loan bassinette which is a bit of a life saver (and money saver)!!! I would love to buy the big ticket stuff now but I feel it is too early and people will look at me silly. Maybe if I just get an idea of what I want and can look out for prices.

After looking in my babies room I realised that I have bought quite a lot of little stuff. Have been collecting for prob 2 years. I tend to do that!!! I had boxes and boxes of stuff that I had been collecting before I moved out. It did make it so much easier!

We haven't started buying much as we will be getting some things from DH's family. Items like a pram I want to buy new. We're looking at the Bugaboo Cameleon as a friend swears by it but its sooo exe, not sure if we can justify the expense.

I bought a prenatal baby education system last week lol. Its a devise which you put around your stomach for a few hours a day from 18 weeks and it replicates the Mum's heart beat -supposedly teaching bub to differentiate sounds early on. DH thinks I'm crazy! Maybe I am!! Has anyone else tried one? DH jokes it will make the bub come out deaf

Can't wait to start buying more.....

Last weekend we ordered:

Boori Ranch Cot in Walnut
Mattress to suit Boori Cot (forget which brand but not Boori, apparenly its a better quality one)
Boori 3 tier changer in Walnut
Boori Matilda chest in Walnut
Safe-n-Sound Meridian AHR Retractor (Manual) Car seat
Angel Rechargable Sound & Movement Monitor
Avent Isis IQ Steam Steriliser
Valco Runabout Tri-Mode Special Edition jogger in Harlequin

Couldnt help ourselves! :p We got a good discount buying it all at once and its on layby technically so we will pay it off when we are ready to get it all. We just have to get a ceiling fan in and put the wallpaper border up in the nursery first. Cant wait to get the cot in there and all set up!

To be honest I have no idea  I keep forgetting to call them and ask. On the day I was expecting to pay a deposit and then just pay in full when everything was in stock I have never Layby'ed anything before! I still have a while to go... but I have ordered some items such as:

§ Boori Cradle
§ Boori 3-tier change table
§ Boori Sleigh cot
§ Bugaboo pram

We have also purchased a few major items such as bath/change station, video baby monitor, rocker/swing, 2 car seats (one for each car), moses basket and Avent steam sterliser & bottle warmer.

Have not yet brought any clothes, nappies, bedding etc

When do most people usually have the nusery set and and ready??

With my 1st baby, we ordered the nursery furniture (we got a sleigh cot, chest of 5 drawers where you can put a change mat on the top, and highchair, all matching) and had it delivered 6 weeks before my due date (ie 34 weeks), just incase the baby came early.

Although I'm now over the 12 week mark, I still haven't been out shopping for this baby. I might wait til after the 19 week scan (only 6 weeks away now) so I know what sort of clothes I will need. If its a girl, I don't need much as I still have all of DD's clothes but if its a boy, then there'll be lots of shopping to do!! Also holding off a bit, gives me more time to save $$. I have bought MCNs that I'm using on DD which will also be for the new baby.

A couple of weeks ago we bought a F&P baby swing, it's really cool, it plays music so it's a good spot to put a newborn when Im chasing around after my 2 yr DS.

I decided to wait until I have my 18 week scan so I know what sex I'm having, if I'm having a boy I dont need much but if its a girl I'm hitting the shops to buy girl clothes.

I will probably buy some toys in the next week or so.

I am so excited! I just laybyed a Cot (in Teak) and a Bassinet! And I am such a bargain hunter! I got $60 off the Cot and I got 10% off the Bassinet, I managed to talk them into giving me 10% off the cot matrice too and they had 20% off the manchester so I got a gorgeous cot set in green (well actually they call it 'mint'). I even scored a discount card for future shopping there!

DH and I just started looking at baby stuff. We're deciding between the Phil & Teds pram and the Velco pram. They both have pros and cons. Does anyone have one of these? Any opinions to help us decide?

Also, we love the Boori collection in Walnut... except for the price. Has anyone seen any cots that are a chocolate colour?

We live in the country so don't have access to a lot of baby shops. We were just in Melbourne over the weekend and went to Babyco and Baby Bunting. Does anyone know of other baby stores they would reccommend?

Thanks for your help.

Believer - just make sure you fold the prams and lift them a few times. I got a Valco last time - and whilst it was a great pram - was VERY heavy.

I have changed my mind on getting the P&T purely because Brion will be big enough to walk a lot by then. I dont go for massive treks, so he should be fine with a skateboard attachment.

Am looking now at the Peg Perego pramette. Only weighs 7kgs! And converts to a stroller.

bree27
10-05-2007, 10:19 AM
I am looking at the Valco or possibly the BeemaQ. I had a look at the Phil&Teds but have decided against it, every person for themselves though. I am just a bit sceptical about how low the newborn lies in it. It looks a bit flimsy and could easily be knocked being so low. But that is just my opinion! It is soooo hard to choose a pram!!!

We ordered the Valco Runabout Tri-Mode Special Edition package with Basinett in Harlequin. Loved it (this model has suspention to!) but have not got it yet.

We looked at these and other models at a Pregnancy Expo and spent the day asking anyone we saw walking around the expo with them what they thought of them! ha, ha.

In-laws have bought us a pram - which we chose and had it delivered from an on-line website - Mountain Buggy Urban Elite in mushroom - very cool...

Dragged a 4-drawer chest of baby-drawers up 3 flights of stairs last night (well hubby did mostly). Our first piece of nursery furniture!

Have also bought a pair of black, maternity pants that fold down on the waist and also bought lots of footless tights and longer tops (thank god for all the current, flowing fashion out there).

Haven't bought any baby clothes as yet, waiting to find out the sex on Wednesday!

Picked out a cot and change-table that my parents have offered to buy us, but won't get that delivered until about August. The joys of living in a 2-bed apartment!

I've been given a cot, portacot and car seat from my husband's family, all in good condition - we're going to sand and repaint the cot.

Toys r u had a massive sale on the weekend in Sydney, got $40 off the new Fisher Price play gym and bought cot sets, bouncer, matress etc.

Struggling with the pram decision, thinking a McLarin or Jeeep. If you're like me and don't know where to start I joined Choice magazine online and they tested 4 wheeler and 3 wheeler prams.

Although some of the 4 wheel models tested were last years a lot of the top brands ie Bugaboo, Peg and BabyLove didn't pass the safety tests! so its worth reading.

Can't wait to go shopping for those cute pink outfits!!! Just need to ditch DH cause he hurries me out of the shops:laughing: lol
