Hi ladies,
Would love to know all thier is to know about FSH injections.
Im sure that is the next step for me.
What day dose the injections start and finish. Scans, blood tests ect?
I would love to know how many cycles it took to conceive.
Any side effects, Good and bad.
I will probably have it all explained to me at my next app, But the anxiety gets the better of me...
Thanx

Hi,
The FSH injections are painless except normally a slight stinging when the drung enters as it's cold. Your FS will likely give you the equiptment and the FSH s injected with a pen needle instead of syringe(trust me the pen is heaps better!!) I too suffer from pcos and clomid was unsuccessful in making me ovulate. I was on FSH for 6mths although individual results vary. It will depend on how your body reacts. The dose is monitored by the doc and may be altered day to day depending on how your FS monitors you. They will start you between cd1 & cd5 most likely and it will finish by either taking a HCG trigger shot to force ovulation or wil put you on provera to bring on af if you have too many mature follicles or other reasons to cancel the cycle. You can normally only have 3 mature follies to be allowed to continue with the cycle due to the risks of multiple pg's. Monitoring is normally internal u/s when your FS feels you will be close to having ripe follies but may also do b/t to check hormone levels.
I am a bit of a control freak so I actually prefered to be on the FSH as I knew what was going on each day. Depending on the type of monitoring you have it can be intrusive to daily life but if it gets you that baby you so dearly want, well it is worth every moment.
Hope this has helped in some way, good luck

I had FSH injectons after Clomid stopped making me O (did 1st cycle then was slow 2nd cycle then failed 3rd)
I had the FSH straight off without inducing AF as my hormone levels are low since my stupid body has no cycle without drugs. I found the injections didnt hurt a bit, the HCG trigger stung a little though. I found if you really grab and hold tight some skin on your stomach it helps for it to not hurt.
My FS started me on 50iU injections which worked fine the first cycle. The 2nd cycle I started again on 50iU but that wasnt doing anything so they increased it to 75iU which made me O.. i conceived that cycle.
I had BTs every 3 days until they could tell my folicles were maturing.. Once they saw that I was close to Oing I had daily BTs to track it closer and then had an internal scan to see the size and check if it was 1 or 2 dominant ones or many smaller ones... both times I Od on FSH I got 2 mature ones (have 2 more weeks to wait to see if i actually am pregnant with twins or not!). Generally the day of the scan I was told to have my trigger HCG shot that night.
I didnt have any side affects at all.
If you have any other Qs feel free to ask.

thankyou both for your replys. that is great info, give me some understanding....
I just dont know what happened this month, I was on 200mg of clomid and i had a great follical, 24mm:yes: best ever for me, I had my trigger shot and we went hard at it for the following few days TMI i know..... I had great signs this month, sore (.)'s, cramping, bloating, i thought it was a winner, not temping so that dosent help... I'm thinking that this all may have been from the pregnal shot because, around 10dpo everything stopped. I tested on that day, Couldnt help it, BFN and i have been too scared to test again for fear of massive dissapointment.... Tomorrow i will be 14 DPO so i will do a test tomorrow morning if AF dosent show up, not feeling very hopfull though.... It would be the best Valentine 's pressent for the both of us. I couldnt ask for much more.....
If anyone else has had any success with FSH your replys would be great to hear...
Thanks again
