Hi all,

Well I am back with yet another sleep problem from DD!

She has just turned 2 but for the past 2 months, it has taken us up to 2 hours to get her to go to sleep and then for the past 4 weeks or so, she seems to wake up at least 2 times a night and in the past 3 weeks, has been waking up several times wanting a bottle of milk or just whinging!

has anyone else had this? please help as we are going insane with lack of sleep!!!!

I'm sorry I can't actually help you but just want you to know you are not alone! My DS of 2 1/2 has been waking up about twice a night since November crying out mummy mummy or whinging for milk. In my case I think it could be some sort of insecurity as since Nov his Dad works away during the week and we have gone away about 4 times. I wake up every day so so tired and very crabby and am at a lose of what to do too. If anyone has had success in getting a child of this age group to sleep and to stay asleep I would love to know too.:fingerscrossed:

Just stick with it - follow the normal bed time routine and if DS wakes in the night I would give it a coouple of minutes then go in and tell him you are there but it is still sleep time then leave. Go back in every 10 - 15 minutes or so and repeat til he goes back to sleep.

My DS is a great sleeper but we travel a lot and sometimes he gets a bit funny like this after we have been travelling. I have learnt that the trick with him is to not get him out of the cot and keep doing the above. He usually settles down again after 1-2 nights. The only time I have given him a bottle was when he sort of skipped his dinner before he went to bed and woke up quite obviously hungry!

:hugs: to you - it is hard and I get really tired and crabby too when this happens!

I 've been searching on the net and called the sleep clinic for help and it appears it is a behavioural thing that starts at this age.

Step 1 was we were to stop the bottle and give her milk in a cup only - this hasn't been a problem so far! If she asks for a bottle during the night, we are not to give into her because then she stops eating during the day because she is full of milk!
