Hi
I have been reading through a few posts and notced that people have mentioned that they or someone they know have had 'reactions' to maxolon.
I was wondering if not too much to ask, what those reactions were.
I am suffering terrible m/s at 18w still and have reactions to maxolon. My doctor is a little suprised by my reaction.
I am pretty much just going to go cold turkey as I really don't want to be taking meds during pregnancy... even if found to be safe. I am a larger person and m/s doesn't seem to be affecting my baby.
It's getting bigger, although I am getting smaller.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Nicky

It actually makes me throw up more - found this out the hard way when I was in hospital 14mths ago, was having maxolon by iv, and after 36hrs the vomiting still hadn't stopped... changed to something else, and it was gone within twleve hrs.

It seems to give me dihorrea (sp?) sorry tmi.
does anyone else react in that way with it?
doesn't make me tired... I dont take it enough!!
And this morning i took one and it made me sick again.

maxalon gives me a funny high feeling (almost halucinations (SP??))and i get very jittery. Doctor tried me on Stemitil and this keeps me awake, therefore making the morning sickness worse the more tired i got. Realised this after a couple of weeks of the morning sickness getting unbearable. Finally had Phenergen which i took for my last pregnancy and it slightly eases the nausea but not for long. Also can make you drousy so i found it not very good with a toddler to look after.

The only thing that cured my Morning sickness was at 40 weeks and 2 days giving birth to my daughter   (sorry for the jokes, i know it feels like hell when you are sick all the time)

Well im on it and i think it makes my heart beat erratic and faster, makes me feel a little funny in the head - like i need to lie down and have a sleep i also dont sleep much at night - maybe an hour or 2, although lastnight i forgot to have one and i actually slept on and off the whole night - to get up and vomit continuosly all morning and be very late for work.

Maxolon = :thumbsdown:
It made me feel worse, I felt very tired and it made me emotional/anxious. I didn't end up taking it for long because of these reasons; I just put up with the all day sickness until 16 wks.....

I lived on maxalon, with last pregnancy it helped only if i took as soon as i started feeling yuk.
Suppose everyone is different.

Maxolon made me feel like ****, just really sleepy and dopey. I found ondansatron is the best antiemetic I have found. Not sure if its safe in pregnancy though, u may have to find it out and its also expensive, its always 2nd choice in hospitals because of its price

maxalon did diddly squat for me- I threw it up about half an hour after taking it. And continued to throw up! But it wasnt for MS, I got a tummy bug when I was 8 months pregnant. Nothing like heaving over the porcelin (sp?) when heavily pregnant.....

My DF is allergic to Maxalon too, makes him throw up twice as much...horrible . There is another one out there for nausea, it is supposed to be heaps better especially for people who are allergic to maxalon. Cant remember the name of it, Dr. will know. :)

Maybe try mottilium that is meant to be good for nausea,i think, ask your doctor.

I was hospitalised for hyperemesis with my DS2 and was given maxolon OMG I felt all shaky and dizzy like I was going to black out....NEVER AGAIN....they tried to give it to me again and I refused asking for something else... So they said I could have Stemital but that it wasn't THE drug of choice for pregnancy.....I took it knowing the side effects and man did I feel better - and DS2 was fine no extra bits etc:yes:

Yep this is exactly what happened to me - I thought I was going crazy - I could not keep still either - so fidgety and I thought my heart was going to explode - and it lasted for hours :(
