On the bag it should say how many minutes per 500g...work it out from that to be accurate

I cook it in my slow cooker on auto usually for about 6 hours. I put it in the morning with cut up carrots (in big chunks) some potatoes, couple of bay leaves, cover the silverside with water, add 1 cup of white vinegar and about 10 cloves. I go out and come back and ta-da its cooked and very very very tender eventhough DH doesn't like silverside he loves my version

after it's boiled, 30 minutes per 1/2 kilo :)
I agree with the last post. I normally get 1 kilo and simmer it for an hour once it has boiled (with an onion studded with cloves, a tbsp. of brown sugar, slurp of brown vinegar and some celery with the leaves on in the water). I chuck in some carrots and potatoes for the last half hour. Yum. Might have to make that again soon -haven't had it for ages.
