Parmy is always good! Use beef schnitzel, as its cheaper than chicken.
And what about stirfry? Use any left over veggies in your fridge and chuck in one of those stir fry sauces

Pasta and a jar of diced tomato pack of frozen veg.. would be under $3-$4
Pasta, some tin tuna and some cheese.. whalah mornay should be able to get it for $3 if you already had cheese at home..
Fried rice.. rice frozen veges and some ham or bacon about $5
Minute steak is only a few dollars.. serve withsome salad.. 1 tomato, baby cucumber, capsicum, lettuce, carrot bout $6
a soup.. heap of veg some stock.. maybe some lentils.. $6
heck there is nothing wrong with having baked beans /spag on toast for tea or you could do grilled sandwiches with them and some cheese..
just a few quick ideas.. hope that helps..

Thanks Girls!!!
I would do the toast and it wouldnt be a problem, but G only has 2 days left of food in the freezer, so i need to make dinners that suit all of us.
:banghead: at hubby - He spent more money than he thought and left me with almost nothing for groceries.
Bigger problem (well not reallly - but anyway) - I cant get more gear to be making more MCN this week :(

G'day bekkyboo,
If you have time check out www.recipezaar.com, they have cool filters so you can look up main meals that are inexpensive, plus you can find recipes that use the ingredients you might already have!
(I have been using that site a lot now we're on a single income :D takes some getting used to!)

Probably too late now - but agreed - pasta and pasta sauce.. have it for all 7 nights :D
Or get a few chicken tonights and serve them with mashed tato - then G can have some too.

mince, cabbage (if g can have it yet), and a home brand chicken noodle soup mix from the shops is super cheap, and wonderful.. ooh, add rice, which is super cheap.
meal for 3 for under $6.. if you get a whole cabbage, you can keep it in the fridge, and add curry, and viola, you have curry, for the next night, yummy on toast, or with toasted sangas..
any veg, esp. pots, tin tuna, boil veg, add tuna drained, mix it all together, and bake for about half an hour, it is beautiful too.. (under $5) I sometimes use frozen veg, but def fresh pots and pumpkin and carrots..
mac and cheese, 89c pack of pasta, and a small cheddar cheese spread, meal under $3, and feeds HEAPS, is yummo, and G can have it mashed.
potato patties, grate pots, add a little flour, 1 egg, grated onion half, some italian herbs or thyme is better, whatever herbs really takes your fancy, make into patties, and deep fry in oil, better if made early and kept in the fridge, damn nice in bread with sauce although, G probably cant go here..
split peas, a tin of pea and ham soup, a tin of veg soup, and veg, especially pots, boil the heck out of it till its ready, if possible, can add some bacon, yummy with crusty bread.... under $5..
when we are struggling, seems like all the time atm, we make up pancakes, and add stuff thats in the cupboard.
Scones are yummy, you can make them with pumpkin, cheese, anything really....
