Hi All.
I have a very very spewy baby (8 1/2 mo). He has been like that since birth. I have taken him to three doctors so far and none have said they will do anything about it because he doesn't appear to be in pain.

I believe that over the last couple of weeks he has started to be uncomfortable with the vomiting because he has been so grizzly just after a spew which I completely understand because they smell so acidic and they have even left an acid burn around his mouth a couple of times!

I am taking him to the doctor to get it checked out (again).

Was just wondering, when babies take losec for example, does the spitting up stop?? Or does it just stop the pain associated with reflux?

I found that the Losec or Zantac didn't stop the vomiting, just the pain. Although when I added a thickener to the formula this seemed to stop the vomiting (not completely). Hope you get some answers from the doctor.

I didn't use Zantac or Losec, just infant gaviscon and merbentyl so I can't comment on them.

My son was 12 months old before he grew out of his reflux and he just kept on spitting up until then!

The thickener and anti-spasmodic drugs I used helped to minimise the amount that came back up and I really noticed that he started to gain a bit more weight, but they didn't stop it completely.

I agree with the others Its won't stop them spewing just stop the pain. I took both my kids off Zantac at around 6 to 8 mths as the pain nolonger bothered them. Both continued spewing until 11 to 12 mths
