Hi Guys,
Can anyone recommend me a good family doctor that preferably bulk bill.
Talai went for her shots today to our regular doctor and 2 weeks ago i told him her belly button was weeping and without looking at it he just said to clean it with salt water, so today i told him its still weeping so he looks at it and says 'Oh its a glamotpa' (i think thats how its spelt) and that it will need to be cut off!! and to give it another 2 weeks to dry it out with alcohol wipes.
Im sooo mad at him for not realising this sooner :(
Can anyone help????
When Kailah was a new born, her belly button was weepy too. I was told to use surgical spirits on it (you can get it from any chemist, its pretty cheap) and to just dab some of that on 3-4 times a day. It dries it up that's all. But as for the condition of it now, I don't know, you should have showed me today and I could have given better advice, but we see Dr David Parkinson at the big medical centre on Queen Street he is fabulous. He has like 7 kids himself:thumbsup:
In the mean time, get some surgical spirits and keep it clean, give it lots of air too.
Its upsetting I know, I used to be nearly in tears everytime I looked at Kailah's as I felt like I had caused it by not taking care of it properly, but I was it was just taking longer to heal than most.
hope this helps.... as i am no dr as you know:rolleyes: just telling you what I was told in a similar situation.;)

I only know of two good g.p's here at Ingleburn if you want details just let me know !
I go to the big Medical centre too and love Dr Parkinson and Dr Bloom.
Word of warning though (for me anyways) I don't like the supposed "children's" doctor there Dr Werry, he is a grumpy old man!!!

I love Dr werry, he is always so good with Emily, he's the only Dr there that knows anything about her disabilty, as much as I love Dr P, I find Dr werry better for Em.
It's an individual thing tho.

Thanks guys :)

Turns out that it was not her umbilical weeping it is the growth on it (glamotpa??) that is weeping :(
which he would have known had he looked at it.
im cleaning it with the alcohol swabs atm.
Ive got an appointment today with Dr Teng in Campbelltown who is suppose to be good.
Will let you all know how it goes.
Honestly i feel so terrible about this :(
I know its not my fault but if i had just made him pay better attention it would not have grown as big as it is now, it was only a little tag before and now it sort of sticks out of her belly button :crying:

Ok so yesturday we went and saw Dr Tang at Chamberlain st and he was GREAT!
He told me it wasnt my fault and said that is a cause of the body over healing from the umbilical cord being cut.
He gave me a refferal to see Dr Currie (a paed) as it has to be surgically removed, (not just by tieing some string around it, as my original gp suggested i do :banghead: )
He was very understanding and we are now all going to attend his surgery as a family.
I have to keep it clean morning and night with Bedadean, and it doesnt hurt her at all. Thank goodness!
Thanks for your support guys :)
Glad that everything has worked out. I bet you feel so much better about it now.
:hugs: for you and lil miss.

I'm so glad for you and T that you got the answers you were after. Sounds like a good doctor too, maybe we'll check him out too.
When will the surgery be, I hope it will be simple and quick and T will heal up before you know it:hugs:
