View Full Version : 4th pregnancies
Girls
For all of you who have had their 4th or subsequent pregnancies, I have a few questions for you:
1. If you suffer from Braxton Hicks, did you find they started and became stronger earlier with each subsequent pregnancy?
2. Were the afterpains after birth stronger with each baby?
3. Did the 3rd trimester tiredness start to hit you halfway through your 2nd trimester?
No book tells you the answers to these questions as they are all aimed at 1st or 2nd time mums and doctor's usually defer to me when I ask these questions, saying that I'd know more than them on this front.
Looking forward to your answers.

1. If you suffer from Braxton Hicks, did you find they started and became stronger earlier with each subsequent pregnancy? I only got braxton hicks in my third pregnancy, rather painful ones. I have noticed a few this pregnancy, but not painful.
2. Were the afterpains after birth stronger with each baby? I'll let you know in a few weeks. ;) Can't say I really noticed them after my 3rd baby though.
3. Did the 3rd trimester tiredness start to hit you halfway through your 2nd trimester? Yes!!! Very tiring looking after 3 kids and being pregnant. Especially when they are on school holidays over Christmas.

Hey I know you asked for people with 4 bubs or more, I only have 2 though
But the afterpains killed me after my second and they where only when i was feeding with my first with #2 i felt like i was in labor again, my mum has 4 kids and she said they do get worse with each child...
And yes the tiredness did hit me through the 2nd trimester instead of the third with JacK.
Gosh I hope the afterpains dont get much worse for each baby thats they only think scary about having more babies.
Personally, if I had a choice, I would ask for the gas and air for the afterpains rather than in labour!

Hi this is my first time writing.
I have four children.
The 3rd i think i had the worst braxton hicks - actually thought I was going into early labour 28 weeks.
And also the third had the worst after pains, felt worse than labour.
My worst tiredness was with the fourth baby in the first trimester - after that renovated a house and moved interstate, so probably couldn't be tired even if wanted!!
3rd was my biggest baby too. 8p 3o. 4th 6p 14o. don't know if that makes a difference.
Hope this helps.

I only got Braxton Hicks with no 1. Didn't get any with the subsequent 3.
The afterpains I didn't get at all with no's 1,2 or 3. Only with no4, and they were painful at first, but gradually eased off and only lasted 2 days.
I don't remember feeling anymore tired with the last than with the first. Probably didn't have time to be tired!!
I had branxton hicks but they werent too bad- i didnt feel like i was going into labour or anything. Some where more intense than others.
Afterpains? Well, i had them with number 2,3 and 4 and i would have to say they were wrost with number 2. I actually started to think i had another baby in there lol. i still got them but they were more uncomfortable and annoying than anything.
Tired?? Hell yes!!!!!!!!!!! Its hard going looking after three little kids while our pregnant.
I got braxton hicks with number 2,3 and 4. 4th was definately the worst though. Did not ever feel like real labour though.
Really, really bad after pains with number four - labour was a breeze compared to them. I had more painkillers for the afterpains than I did for the birth.
I have only noticed being really tired for this pregnancy - but I am still in the first trimester. I don't ever remember feeling like this, I could just put my head down and sleep anywhere.:D

Well I have 5...obviously:D .
Never really got BH that bothered me, though did have false labour several times in the 12 days that no. 5 was overdue...
Afterpains were pretty gross after all of the last 3, but the worst was number 3 for sure...it was agonising!
Am ALWAYS tired while pregnant, but I think it just gets that bit harder and more tiring looking after more kids...so no.5 was worst, though maybe only cause there was no time to sleep!
