However I am starting to think it's alittle too common and have come across the name Nyriah and really like it... what do you guys think of the name Nyriah Jayde for a girl??? Please be honest I dont mind... :) oooo orginally i should say it is spelt Neriah but we like the other spelling...
so it's pronounced Knee - reee - ahhhh

thanks heaps for your honesty guys!!! and keep it coming... i like both names but am not 100% on either.. i think i need to hear what people think to be sure... and i bet you i wont even use either when it comes to it! hehe
Mikayla is everywhere now!
but the 2nd name you have chosen is very pretty and different, but then I like different but not to unusual! Sounds like an Irish name
I agree.. Mikayla (no matter how you spell it) is everywhere. I really, really prefer the second one. It's noice. It's different. It's unusual. :D

I like Nyriah - you won't find 3 other little girls in her preschool class with the same name either, I'll bet! Very individual......
Let us know what you decide. :)
i like both...
i knew a NYRIDAH ! sounds almost the same. KNEE -REE- DAH
Mikayla Jayde. i know a few mikayla too.
i'd go with ummmmm....................... Nyriah.
I really like Nyriah personally but its one of those names that people will continually get wrong or pronounce wrong because its different.
Love the name Nyriah Jayde! I think it's fantastic!
(you're so lucky we're having a boy! ;) lol! :D )

if Coby was a girl his name would have been Mikaela... well i wanted it spelt like that but DP didnt :p
but now we dont really like it anymore so we have no girls name! but we have ages to think bout it!
i agree with whoever said it will constantly be pronounced right... that annoys me... my last name isnt really that hard but people can never pronounce it... i would hate to have a hard to pronounce first name,...
but i love Jayde as a middle name! i love names that start with J...
good luck choosing!
i really like Mikayla as well BUT i think you should go with the second one. Nyriah
Mainly because i have been in the same position , i had bubs name picked for the entire pregnancy and have my doubts now, and wondering if i should change to another name that i just thought of that is a little different. just dont know if i have the guts to change it to something a little more un-heard of.
But i really think i might regret it later that i didnt do it! so i think i decided to go with my "other" choice. So i thought i might suggest the same to you.
Although both i think are nice!!
Good luck

Thanks so much guys... this is really helping me.
I agree with the fact that Mikayla not matter which way you spell it is everywhere now. And i would really like something different. DH is not so sure but me telling him your views is changing his mind!!! yay... but he really want's to spell it Nyria. Which i guess i dont mind.
So thanks and keep them coming cause Dh is hard to convince!!! :D
Maybe Mikayla is just popular in some areas, I have not met one yet!
Nyriah Jayde is lovely - but you have a long time to decide don't you? What if you have a boy? ;)
My next bub is due in March and we have no idea on names yet. You have inspired me to get cracking!! :D

hehe.. i am obsessed with names.. have been since i was like 14.... so i will be thinking about names the whole pregnancy. hehe
for a boy at this stage it is Ezekiel John... but that is subject to change if we find one we like better.... :D
Go into a shopping centre and shout out both names at the top of your voice - you'll be doing that a lot over the next couple of years and you can see how they sound. If people are giving you horrified looks you know you better find another name.
I was in Borders the other day and a mother was calling for her son 'Franklin' - I wonder why he wasn't answering to that!!!
Definately Nyriah, its a very sweet and feminine name. Personally I am not keen on the name Jayde, and I also know a few kids with that name, but the name Nyriah Jayde flows very nicely! Michaela (? Spelling?) is Ok but way to common.... :D
Nyriah is the vote for me :D . I am Mikaylaed out. I see & hear it quite often in various spelling incarnations. Your speliing of Nyriah is quite pretty and given that it is not a common name, most people would be unsure of its original spelling anyway, so you would get away with the more creative spelling there too.

I just have to ask... what is up with the current trend with revising spellings to put a "Y" in them? Having spent my entire life having to even explain how to spell "Martha" I guess i'm biased against odd spellings.
Of the two I like the 2nd one, Nyriah, better than Mikayla (just had to go back and check the spelling of both of them about 3 times!).
but even when you have a "normal" name people will still get it wrong.....
my name is VERY well known but not many people have it but everyone has heard of it and you wouldnt belive how many people when reading it on paper pronounced it some stupid way....

Hi Martha
I agree with you, I've always felt that respelling a name just to be different is a bit of a cop out - if you want to be different, choose a unique name. Of course, even if you choose a popular name, you still have to tell ppl how to spell it (eg Lisa/Leisa/Leesa or Tracey/Traci/Tracie) - so I don't ever think that you'll escape having to spell out your name :o .
However, when I see Nyriah, I want to pronounce it NYE-ree-ah, so if thats going to annoy you for the rest of your life, maybe Neriah or Niriah would be better...up to you though, because that might not bother you.
Cheers

Being honest I agree about the confusion with spelling and pronunciation the poor child will go through all her life! Don't like Mikayla spelt like that (Kath and Kim do spring to mind), much prefer the original Michaela spelling. Good luck!
I do kind of agree with the fact that people will mispronounce Nyriah but i don't think that should deter you! My name gets mispronouced quite a bit but i would of thought that ANGELA is pretty obvious!
I quite like the name Nyriah. It is unusual but really pretty.

i love nyriah - it has been on my bay name list for awhile - too many mikayla's around
Love Nyriah!!! :) very pretty, the way you want to spell it is much nicer written than the way your dh wants to spell it (Nyria, i think? ) anyway, agree with some of the other girls, Mikayla is way overdone, and a bit kath n kim :)

To be honest, a wanted to pronounce Nyriah as Ne-RYE-ah (like Mariah [Carey]).
I really like this name but wonder what kids could shorten it to? My mother picked my name thinking it couldn't be shortened but kids find a way (and usually the worst possible way) to give nicknames!
Not a fan of Mikayla (no matter how it's spelt).
Good Luck!!

i like Nyriah -
we're still tossing up our little girls middle name and one we liked is Ngaire (or Ny-Ree - we're maori's lol) - i think thats a beautiful name - and yes Mikayla is very common, and it reminds me of my annoying 25 year old aunt Mikala (Mik-Arla)

I know someone called Ngaire (pronounced the same) and I always thought it had a beautiful, yet mysterious ring to it. Mikayla and Jade (Jayde) are way too popular and chav. I was talking to my Hubby about it at the shops yesterday because someone called their kid Sharleen...... He called her Sharleen 'Bling Bling'....sooo Kath and Kim. Classic (but less common) names always go well.
Nyria is good but be prepared for it to be pronounced like Maria(h). Jade is an extremely common second name but isn't too bad....perhaps another gem like Amber? Niamh is popular in Ireland but not so in Australia.
Just my 2c :) Good Luck!

heya. I like your spelling better but don't like the name at all... I never like names you have to be told how to pronounce them...
Good luck with your choice though

I like Nyriah, there are a lot of Mikaylas around. That is the thing with unusual names though, people find them hard to remember and pronounce. We have heaps of trouble with my little girl Mya getting called Mia. Good luck!

Nyriah is a nice name but i think that people will always muck up the pronunciation and the spelling. Mikayla isnt too common. I like the way you are spelling it. i only know one girl with the same name and that is spelt Michaela. Its a very pretty name.
Definately go with Mikayla Jayde. Good luck!

I like Mikayla Jayde too, its a strong but pretty name and personally I don't find it too common.
In the end , when you see her, you will know. It gets a bit confusing. Sometimes the different spelling of a name can make it a bit more unique too.
Good luck..:)
