Chloe only ever downs about 150mls every feed. When she wakes up I try to give her 200mls but she barely finishes it. The same goes before bed.

How does one get there bub to eat more and less often? lol

Here's our routine...

7-8am- 200mls/only drinks about 170mls

10-11am- 150mls

1pm- 150mls

3pm- 150mls

5pm-150mls

7:30-8:30pm- 150mls

Sometimes she'll wake up at like 10-11pm and a bottle puts her to sleep again.

I just want to know if i'm doing something wrong? Everything I read about how much they should be eating at her age says 250mls per feed.

Am i mistaking her hunger crys for comfort crys? I'd like to think I can tell the difference between her crys.

Is she getting too much? too little?

Hi Ashleigh, My son is only 2 days younger than Chloe. This is roughly his eating routine-

7am 200ml

11am 150-200ml

3pm 150-200ml

6.30pm 200ml

10pm used to have 150ml but has just recently dropped this feed.

In the beginning I did mistake all his cries for hunger and fell into the trap of him snack feeding every two hours. I was told by my CHN to try not to feed more than once in a two hour period and try to encourage him to take a proper feed every 3-4 hours. It took a bit of work to get him out of the snack feeding habit but it was worth it in the end.

Feel free to PM if you want to chat about it.
Cheers, Kathryn

Ash, Jett has been drinking 210mls, for like 2 and a bit months now.
And its only reccomended not, "It has to be done this way, and this way ONLY".
Have you ever tried to strech Chloe to every 3 hours, instead of 2.. Because this may help.
It takes a bit to try and coax her but do it bit by bit like..
2 hours and 15 minutes then 2 and a half hours.. etc.
She might take to it easily, and realise she isnt really THAT hungry.
I hope i helped in some kind of way.

 Hey Ash, Rhianna is 9 months old and never drinks more than 180mls- never has :)

I would try to stretch it out to 3 hourly though- would probably help a little...

If bubs is putting on weight and growing fine there is nothing to worry about babe

HTH :D

Thanks ladies :D

Yeah she's growing fine, too fast if you ask me..:( :p

She seems to just get so angry if she isn't fed within the two hour limit. I guess it's partially my fault because I give in and just think putting a stop to her cries = food.
I've been trying to distract her with giggles and she falls for that, but I seriously can't spend an hour just giggling at her and talking all kinds of crazy talk to stop her from crying. lol
Well, I will try tomorrow.

I'll trys me darn hardests.

Thanks again!:hugs:

When my dd was that age she would only ever drink about 120mls, 150 occasionly.

Even when she was older she only ever got up to about 180ml.

Try not to worry, every bubby is different.

Thanks :) I'm trying my hardest.
We're just going through forumla like crazy and I feel like she should be on a different routine.
I guess i've just never changed my old habbits, she always had anywhere between 120-150mls when she was younger too.
I guess in a good way she has a fast metabolism and we have no problems in the pesto pants department lol

Hi There,

My little girl is 6.5months and only drinks 110ml every feed. She is petite but is putting on weight fine. I have had her to everybody (peadeatricians, health nurses, feeding teams) and they all say to me that she just must be a small eater and that she is putting on weight fine so there is nothing for me to worry about.

Good Luck with everything

Thanks for that Kylie, you've helped me not worry too much.
So far it's almost been three hours since she last ate. I think I'll stick it to a three hour limit.
