Hi Lavender,

welcome to bubhub. Can I suggest that you contact your local early childhood centre - they should be able to put you in touch with a mothers groups with babas the same age as your own.

I think they would also be able to let you know about local playgroups and gymboree etc - they are all good ways of meeting people.

We've just moved to Melbourne so I know how hard it is meeting new people. Your MCHN is a good place to start as she'll hook you up with other new mothers, or you could try joining an established playgroup. You can find some either through Playgroup Australia (should be links somewhere in the Bubhub info pages), advertised in the local community paper, or sometimes even the notice boards at the shops.

Good luck with finding nearby friends. But we're happy to have you here in cyberland :)
