i just remembered something that i wanted to see if it was true...
it could just be an old wives tale!
when i was in labour and still at home i went to the toilet and there was blood when i wiped myself ... just a little bit and i told my partners grandmother said that meant it definately was a boy...
i was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else or have heard it and whether it has happened to people who have had girls... or if it is just an old wives tale!
Thanks!

It was probably your 'show' I don't think it has anything to do with being a boy or girl. I had I boy and I didn't have any bleeding or show. My friend had a show and she had a girl

Lots of women have a show regardless of the sex of their baby :)

i had lost my show a week before he was born... and this was little bit of pure blood... not mucusy like my show....

Lots of women have blood and mucus come out of their cervix at around the time their baby is born regardless of the sex of their baby. I had no blood and had a boy :)

Wow...I see a pattern forming.....ooOOOOOoooI had a bloody show with all 3 girls...but nothing with my son...maybe there IS something in what her grandmother said..but the other way around...LOL
Gotta love them old wives tales :D

I had a massive, ongoing, vaguely pinkish (more a very pale off-brown, in hindsight) show at the onset of true labour, and continuously throughout the 24 hours that followed.
I wouldn't say it was bloody...the first bit was slightly pink (ever so slightly) and all the rest was pure, goopy, thick mucous. Blood never really entered the picture.
And I have a son. :)
Total old wives tale, methinks...

Funny you should say that, I was musing on it after my post, and thinking that "old wives" would actually be a reliable source most of the time...if it was genuinely their female crone's intuition they were using. :D
I suspect a lot of theories that are attributed, somewhat detrimentally, to "old wives" are more accurately "urban myths"...and somewhere along the line, a man has pinned the responsibility for any of the incorrect ones on a woman. :p
How unusual... Anything incorrect or foolish must be the "wives" doing...
