View Full Version : Blood in Vomit!
Hi girls
I've been vomiting about once a day but this morning I saw a little bit of blood mixed in with it. Have any of you had this? Should I be worried? I rang my GP but she is not in today and I'm trying not to stress out til I can talk to her tomorrow.

I'm no expert but I would say that because you have been vomitting everyday that it is just an ulceration in your throat or something as simple as that. Vommit is quiet acidic and you may have broken some of the lining in your throat. I wouldn't worry as it is only a small amount.
See a GP when you can and maybe see if there is something you can take that can stop the vommitting.
Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks BubbaLicious!
That makes perfect sense :) It was only a bit so I'm hoping it's nothing serious.

i have had that. it's nothing to worry about. it is a burst blood vessel in your throat. i was told that by my dr with my first after throwing up a toilet full of blood
Hi Sugar n Spice!
Thank you so much you have made me feel a million times better! A toilet full of blood sounds awful! Just a spot of it is enough to freak me out!

Hi Kimee,
I got this and all my OB said was that it was the acid burning and the bottom of your throat because you have been vomiting everyday. He told me it was nothing to worry about but prescribed me Anti-Acid tablets anyway to stop it. They work fine apart from when I vomit more than a couple of times a day....
He said that it will not harm the bub in anyway what so ever!
Hi I am currently still suffering m/s. I am also experiencing blood in vomit, and although not much, is still concerning!
My doc said that it was a burst vessel, in my oesophagus or stomach and that it would heal once I stopped vommiting.
He prescribed maxalon that stopped the vomitting, but wasn't very nice to me in other areas.
Don't stress out too much, looks like alot of others are going thru the same!!
Good luck with ur pregnancy:)
Thanks so much for your replies! I can't tell you how relieved I am to know that I'm not the only one and that I'm not severely ill or anything! Still gave me quite a fright but at least I know what it is. If it continues I think I'll see my dr for something to ease the vomiting. Lets hope it stops soon as I'm nearly 11 weeks!
Kristy - were you given the antacids to stop the vomiting or the blood?
Herchy - how many weeks are you? Hope you feel better soon

Hi Kimee,
I was prescribed Zantac to stop acid building in my stomach and therefore overflowing to my oesophagus (where it was burning) the acid is caused by the vomiting (although you always have acid to help digest your food - it increases when you vomit).
To stop the vomiting I was prescribed Zofran and Maxolon (not both at the same time I just found the Zofran was way to expensive - $45 for 4 tablets (you cut them in half). Maxolon was fine and worked just as well as the Zofran - it is also a little bit weaker which was more comforting.
I still take them now because if I dont I get sick! I'm only 14 weeks...
Hope this helps a little

I was very sick with all three of my pregnancies.
I started to see a little blood too but I realised it was my gums bleeding a litte. My gums bleed badly when I brushed my teeth.
Oh you poor thing. I hope you get better soon.
I tried EVERYTHING to stop my morning sickness. It was just awful.
I eventually tried the morningwell cd and goodness knows how but it worked. I was so skeptical of a cd stopping morning sickness but it really did take the edge off it.

I know it is a little pricie but it was worth it for me.
All the best.

Usually a daily occurance for me but then im suffering Hyperemesis for the second go
All because of the amount of vomitting i do but it was much worse with my DS & the bile also made two of my back teeth crumble so im hoping this time it wont be that bad :fingerscrossed:
As Angelbaby said do see your doctor because if you do tear your throat its not a good thing for obvious reasons.
