View Full Version : Any1 suffer a molar pregnancy??
Would love to hear from other women who have or in the past had a molar pregnancy(or medically known as a hydatidiform mole).
About 7 weeks a go I lost my bub. Although I had a feeling something was wrong and I asked for a scan.
They found a h/beat but very slow at 91bpms- and I was told not to expect too much. The next week bub was gone:-(
Had a D & C and that went wrong too!! Not a good mth for me.
And when the tests came back from the lab I was told the bad news...
Now we have 6 - 8 mths before we can even begin to think about ttc again. So glad I have my little girl to put my energy and my thoughts into otherwise I'd be really upset.
Would love to hear from you if you have had this misfortune:-(

Hi Carol,
I haven't been through what you have (apart from the D&C at one time). But my heart goes out to you. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your baby - I hope you are able to find more information on this issue. There are many girls here so hopefully you find the right direction for some answers.
Best of luck.
Hi Carol
I am so sorry to hear your news. I have not suffered a molar pregnancy personally, but my best friend did earlier this year with her first baby. Unfortunately her 'mole' became aggressive. She had to go through 6 rounds of chemo and she was told she had to wait a year from her first negative blood test, until she can concieve again. She is now on month 4 of all clear. As you can imagine she was devastated - not only for the loss of her bub but because of the treatment she needed. During the peak of her illness I gave birth to my daughter which I am sure didn't help her emotionally. While I know she loves my little girl to bits I am sure it can't be easy for her. She is currently having counselling to allow her to come to terms with what she has been though.
She finds it very comforting to talk to people in the same position so I can pass on your email address if you would like.

Hi Carol,
I am sorry to read your story and that of the other members. I have just joined this forum today as my regular parent forum closed today.
For the last 5 years I have worked as a writer and I did want to write a feature on this topic. Sometimes editors dont want to touch particular issues, but I think readers have a right to know about diverse topics.
I know how it feels when things go wrong. My 13 year old daughter is autistic and may be schizophrenic. This has broken my heart and spirit.
What I love about writing is we can share our stories and find that others can relate to them. Take care.
Sue
Thanks every1,
Claire- If your friend would like someone else to chat to about it then yes, pls do pass along my email to her.
Mine isn't as agressive as hers it was only a partial but I can empathise with her and understand to some extent what she is going through and how she must be feeling:-(

Hi Carol,
Although I have not had a molar pregnancy they thought I did. At 5 weeks 4 days I went for a scan and there were 2 sacs (twins), 1 with no hb and 1 with a hb of 109bpm, which they told me was slow. Went for a scan at 7 weeks and had lost the fetal hb. My HCG levels were high but not high enough to indicate a molar pregnancy, probably just indicated the twin pregnancy. Both scan reports indicated that I had a molar pregnancy due to the cystic mass and cyst on my corpus leteum and the terrible brown discharge bleed I was continuously having. I had a D&C and thank god the cystic mass was tested and I did not have a molar pregnancy. This would have devastated me if I had to wait seeing as this would have been my first pregnancy.
In amongst my waiting, I found alot of information and support forums that you might like to join. If you give me your email address I will email the information to you. There is also another lady on Bubhub that has recently also had a molar pregnancy. Her name is Jenny and her username = Firstbub. So maybe you guys could be of some support for each other.
Like you said you have a little girl, and hold onto that little girl, and recover in the best way you know how. Hope things eventually get a little easier for you.
All the best for the future.

Just interested but what do they consider high hcg levels to be considered a molar pg?

Yes a molar pregnancy is and can be high hcg levels. They say low for eptopic and high for a molar.

Oh ok, what do they consider high though? I mean is it just a bit higher or heaps higher than normal?

I hope I have answered this for you in the other thread. If not, just buzz me.
Im 37 yrs old with 4 kids. 8 days ago I was admitted to hospital with violent migraine's and admominal pains and 2 menstrual cycle following one after the other , After been examined and blood test done, my doctor came back to me and said my blood work came back as pregnant and very high Hcg levels, My hemoglobin was 71. What concerned me the most is that my husband had a vasectomy 8 years ago after our last daughter was born.
I receieved 2 D&C's as they didnt get the first one all out. 7 days on , I suffer cramps , tiredness and shortness of breath.
has anyone had this problem , while partners have been "snipped"
im just hoping they got it all this time...:fingerscrossed:
