Jaydensmum, I cannot for the life of me remember what my levels were. I think at 5 weeks they were around 10,000..?? And at that stage they are supposed to increase by about 50% every couple of days.

The thing is... they vary HUGELY between individuals. I can't believe a doctor would tell you your levels indicate how far pregnant you are - all doctors have said to me (especially through all my problems in the beginning) that the number isn't important - they just need to be going UP!!

There are websites that give you an indication of a range.. but I think you will find that range is so wide you will surely be in there somewhere!

Thanks Cosmic. I wasnt sure because the doctor totally confused me, cause i know my dates. He gave me the blood test results and the levels of hcg in a normal pg.

These dates are from conception:

1 - 2 weeks = 40 - 300
2 - 3 weeks = 100 - 1000
3 - 4 weeks = 500 - 6000
1 - 2 months = 5000 - 200000
2 - 3 months = 10000 - 100000
2nd trimester = 3000 - 50000
3rd trimester = 1000 - 50000

Hey Jaydensmum,

My levels at 5weeks 5days was 5283. Your levels are perfect for 6 weeks.
Is your doctor a GP? I've found they can be a bit dim at times when it comes to pregnancy. Just ignore what he said!
Congratulations on baby #2!!!!

Thanks Mim, yeah it was a GP that i went too. It really confused me when he said that i was 4 weeks. I mean i know my body better than anybody. Its good to know that the pg is doing everything its supposed to.

Your GP could be talking about gestational age rather than time from LMP. Just a thought.

Yeah im starting to think thats what he was trying to say. I did ask him if he meant from conception or LMP and he replied from LMP. I dont think he has a clue what he is talking about.

some GPs seem absolutely useless and you wonder how they got their degree ;). My hormones were relatively low for the first few weeks. As long as you're within averages you'll be fine I'm sure (but I'll send sticky vibes just in case ;))

Hi Jayden'smum,

Yes, most O&G's will tell you that if a woman is certain of her dates, then that is what to use, regardless of blood test/USS results etc (unless of course there is a BIG difference, in which case you might have had an implantation bleed or something that you though was a period)... the hormone levels do have huge range, and lots depends on how long your cycle is, too - because that will mean the day of cycle you conceived is hugely different to the "average" cycle person.

Trust your own dates, you certainly do know your own body best!

Everyone is different Naomi that is why the ranges are so big.

Mine were

5 weeks 4 days - 7337
7 weeks 4 days - 33000

Yours look fine.
