I have a 12 week old DD, am b/fing, and plan to continue b/fing for another couple of months. I'm also very keen to start running again and went for my first run this afternoon. I'm a bit worried that the milk in my breasts combined with the jiggle caused by the running will lead to sagging. Any other running and b/fing mums out there with any tips for staying perky?

All I can suggest is that you get a really good sports bra - Berlei now make a maternity sports bra

Oh, dear, I had to leave the computer in the middle of posting that, and my DD had reached up to the keyboard while I was in the kitchen and "fiddled" with it - and posted it for me!
Sorry if it sounded terribly curt, but I hadn't finished writing it!

where was I?
Berlei now make a maternity sports bra which I believe is really good, although I only have a regular one for when I go to the gym. I guess it just depends on your genetics as to how your breasts fare when you finish breastfeeding - from what I've heard, various outcomes are possible  . I personally am not a runner, more of a speed walker/rower/crosstrainer cardio girl, so can't really recommend anything else for you to do.
Also make sure you have the bra professionally fitted - it makes all the difference!
Good luck staying in shape. :)

Hi Runningmum,

Hmmm...I'm not sure how to say this tactfully....

Look at your beautiful baby and take note of all the joy you share with her and all the experiences you will have in the future.

...then look at your beautiful boobies and wave to them as they head south :( It depends on the size as to what changes will occur but I must say that from personal experience, I was pretty rapt up until I stopped B/F my DS. They are certainly not the perky little girls they once were ! :p Hopefully your experience will be much different.

But Nickster is right with the maternity bra, this should certainly help to support the weight, esp while you are still B/F. :)

heheheh K that is so true!

Hi Runningmum

I used to run before my bad knee played up (Im 27 and I already have a bad knee  ) Now I use the cross trainer at the gym and its fantastic, just like running but without the joint pain LOL I wear a tight sports bra and a singlet with a hidden support thing in it for extra protection. But alas you cant prevent them from drooping, unless of course you go under the knife :D

Thank you. I didn't know about the maternity sports bra....brilliant! Not that I'll really be feeding and running at the same time, but hey, it means I can leave for the run as soon as I've fed. I've run every day this week and it seems to be getting easier, just need the extra supportive bra now so I don't have to run holding my boobs still!
