I am after some tried and tested yummy salad dressing recipes! We eat heaps of salad and just use the bottled stuff...but homemade ones are often so much nicer.
Thanks in advance!
The beauty of salad dressings is you can put prettymuch anythng you like in them!!
Good base ingredients are a nice olive oil, (or a good flavoured oil) and either a balsamic or a red wine vinegar.
Then you can add things like seeded mustard, freshly squeezed lemon or orange juice, basil, garlic, salt and pepper, your favourite herb or a dash of sweet chilli or tabasco or wostershire (sp?) or soy sauce. Another good base to get is Mirin seasoning or rice wine vinegar - good for noodle salads..
Just mix and match and experiment. You will be pleasantly surprised with what you come up with!

My friend and I came across a great one not long ago:
Apple cider vinegar
Wholegrain mustard
Olive oil
2 parts olive oil, 1 part apple cider and 2 tablespoons of mustard.
Whisk till it turns cloudy.
For potato salads... a combo of sour cream and mayo with fresh herbs is the best!
(and Im a sucker for Paul Newmans Caesar Dressing! best bought one ever)

Thank you ladies- these all seem great! Hopefully our bbq guests on saturday will think so also!! Thanks again.
I have a couple of traditional ones ...
Traditional Condensed Milk Dressing
1 can condensed milk
1 heaped tsp grainy mustard
½ condensed milk can of malt vinegar
salt and pepper to taste.
This one is yummy on a traditional iceberg lettuce salad or a potato salad - I just add more mustard for the potato salad and thin the dressing with milk.
This next one was my Gran's - it's a really old recipe, but it keeps for ages!
Boiled Salad Dressing
3 teacups sugar
6 eggs
5 heaped teaspoons mustard powder
1 cup vinegar
2 tablespoons butter
Mix thoroughly, cook in double boiler till it thickens stirring frequently. Keep in screw top jar in refrigerator - will keep many months.
Thin required amount with cream or milk - cream gives a thicker mixture.
Both recipes are old a decadent ... mmmm
