Hi,
Just wondering how much a pure bred Great dane male would cost, approx 12mths old?

It largely depends on wether you are looking for a pedigree or not. I've had two danes, both were purebread but only one was pedigree. The non-pedigree one only cost about $200.00 (about 6 years ago though) but my pedigree boy was nearly a $1000 then I paid to fly him up to Townsville (he came from Laidly). But both of mine were bought as 4 month old pups so to be honest, I'm not sure how much difference it would make to the cost buying one thats a year old.

It really depends on what you want.
For a purebred puppy with papers and good lines you are looking at $1000-$1500
For the above but older (12 months) and entire I would pay in excess of $2000
But its hard to estimate when I dont know if you want to buy a dog from a breeder with papers and good lines, if your after a pet or a show dog etc
You dont want it for breeding do you?

I am after a male just as a pet. Without papers as it doesn't matter.

Hi Taddy, I've attached a few links that might help you out. I got my last boy from Quintessa Danes but they only sell pedigree so not much use to you.

Even if there aren't any older pups on these sites there should be some contacts for someone who might be able to help you with that.

Oh I'm so jelous!! I miss my boys soooo much (one passed away :crying: and the other is with my ex :crying: ). If I was to get another dog I'd have a dane for sure!!!!!!!!

Thanks for that. Am looking at them know. We have a great daneX mastiff she is DF hunting dog. I like the big dogs they just seem so dopey. I should really ring the people were we got DF dog from as the mother was pure dane. Might do that actually.

I would suggest going to a breeder who health tests their dogs, big dogs especially because they are prone to several heriditary diseases. If you dont buy from a registered breeder you are probably buying from a back yard breeder and thats not good.
