View Full Version : Question about Murdoch SJOG
Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone's delivered a natural birth at murdoch? this is my first time round, and not sure what the deal is with a natural birth, will the midwives be supportive of this? Does the obstetrician just step in if he needs to? Hope to hear any advice or experience.
Thanks!
I had DD at SJOG (Subiaco) and everyone there was FANTASTIC! The OB was called in when I was ready to push and I had a midwife there with me the whole time! I'm sure Murdoch would be the same!
Goodluck :D

I worked in Canningvale for years and met lots of women from the area who had natural births at Murdoch. They tell me that it's midwives unless there is a problem-they only call the OB when you are ready to give birth and they don't always show up in time from what I have heard. Maybe I just hear the dramatic stories...
I am going to Murdoch for my Bub in May because Anna Holmes there is very pro-VBAC and that is what I want. I changed to Galliers Private last time because the OB I had at Murdoch told me after my 20 week ultrasound that DS was too big and I would have to have a C/S. I think if they are going to suggest C/S they do it early unless there is a problem when you are in labour.
You can do a tour of the maternity ward and the midwives tell you about the policies and everything if you ask them. That might help set your mind at rest.

Hi Kej:wave:
I just delievered at Murdoch 5months ago - completely natural no drugs:) With Dr. Chris Gunnell from Attadale.
It was wonderful - all the middies were amazing and the treatment I received there over the next 4 days was second to none. I enjoyed my experience there soo much. My birth was exactly how I wanted it - just majic.
Like Funkeemonkee just said - they called my OB too late and I delivered without him LOL - happens to me everytime!!! My previous baby was born at Galliers and again my OB missed that one too. Apparently I dont give them enough notice when I want to push:laughing: Can I help it if they pop out in 2min?? lol
Anyways - that was my experience:yes:
