View Full Version : plz help me name her!! choice of 2
Hi,
my little girl is due in under 2 weeks and ive had second thoughts on her name.
I have had Kayleigh (kailey? havent picked spelling) picked for the entire pregnancy but have just decided i liked Indy, and they just dont go together as first and second name.
So my first question is
Q: Which does everyone like better Kayleigh or Indy
and if im not pushing my luck... any help with a middle name to go with one of these????? the surname is Clayton.
Please any ideas??
Hi dannii.
Both names are beautiful but i love the name Indy and i always get stuck for middle names aswell.
Good luck :)
I like both names, dannii. Why don't you wait until you meet her and then you have two names to choose from! (Not very helpful, I know, but that's what I'd do)
Suggestions for a middle name tho - Kayleigh Ann or Indy Brianna. Those just poped into my head. Hope you like!
I like Kayleigh, as Indy reminds me of the car race! :D

Kayleigh Clayton is a bit of a mouthful lol I like Indy Clayton better :D
As for a middle name how about Indy Rose Clayton????
Good luck in finding just the right combo, let us know what you decide on.

I think Indy Clayton is much nicer - gorgeous name - makes me think of twighlight.
If you did a longer version Indigo Clayton (I don't know what Indy is short for) then she could chose to shorten or go full name
Indigo Clayton - mmmmmm Gorgeous!!!
Like someone else said, when you meet her it may be different again!
As for middle name - I'm with O's mum for Rose - Good Luck :)
I'm with Carl's Indy reminds me of the car race and the last thing I would want is my little girl to be called Indy car growing up. ( My brother shortend Narelle to Naz and would call me Naz car)
I love the name Kayleigh
I really like the name Indy but I think its probably better to wait until she is here until you chose a name, I am sure that you will know as soon as you set eyes on her.,...
Good luck, not long to go now!
What about Indy Leigh Clayton - I think that is just gorgeous.
Good Luck!

or is Indy short for India? I think of Indiana as a boys name after Raiders of the Lost Ark. I lick Indy best.
I know I'm in the minority, but does Indy have more potential for nastiness? This all came to me within a minute:
Indy-cisive
Indy-nial
Indy-kitchen
Indy-pendent (may be a GOOD thing)
And Indiana was the Jones' family dog, and when still a boy Indiana decided he preferred the dog's name.
If you want Indy, I would make it a short form of something (like Indigo). I also think Kayleigh is fine. What about Sage as a middle name, it means "wise".
Cheers
LOVE Indy :) I know a Kayleigh and you are the first other person ive seen to spell it that way, not to fussed on it though, Indy is much nicer :)
I have known two Indy's ... both are still quite young and it is short for India. I really like the name and it is a fun nickname.
Kayleigh ... well, it was one that I considered (spelt Caley), but my dh hated with a passion! He had no idea why, but I think it was something to do with a girl named Kayleene who tried to crack onto him at our wedding!!!
my vote Indiana Jane Clayton
Or Kayleigh Anne Clayton
I think WAY too much about the rough housing the kids dish out at school to name my girl Indy, but then I'm a school teacher .... get to see it first hand.

I love Indiana Rose, or just Indy. Kayleigh is beautiful, but could get to be a mouthful...not that i should talk, my DD1 is Mackenzie McClure!! What about Grace for a middle name for either?
Indiana Rose
Indiana Grace
Kayleigh Rose
Kayleigh Grace
Just suggested my two girls middle names!! :p GOOD LUCK!!
I love Indy as well! Its a gorgeous name! I also think the combo Indy Rose Clayton sounds just perfect!
I love Indy, i'm naming my own daughter Indiana Leigh!
I know I'm in the minority, but does Indy have more potential for nastiness? This all came to me within a minute:
Indy-cisive
Indy-nial
Indy-kitchen
Indy-pendent (may be a GOOD thing)
Hmmmm i guess maybe "Indy" is what i should call her then ..considering youve brought to my attention this all started coz i have been "Indy-cisive" about her name lol :D
Thank you sooo much to everyone helping out, ive been relaying all info to the rest of the fam :p

I thought of Indiah as a full name when I heard Indy....If you go for a full name like India, Indiah or Indiana, pick a short syllable middle name.....it'll flow better with Clayton. Good luck :)
I like Indy Rose as has been mentioned.
Also like Indy Lee Clayton hmmm nice :D
A middle name I would not reccomend would be Ann - nice name, but if you say it fast......Indy Ann!!! heheh LOL

my eldest niece's name is Indy but spelt Indii. i think it is a beautiful rare name and im going with that. My nieces middle name is Breeyana which i think goes well with her last name.
As for middle names with your last name - you dont necessarilly have to go with short names... there are many longish sort of names that go beautifully with that first name
Indy Rhianna
Indy Aiyana
Indy Jamilla
Indy Natasha

hi!
i love the name Kayleigh but i dont think it will go very well with your last name. Indy will go very well and i love the name, its unusual but gorgeous! as for middle names, perhaps Leigh as someone else suggested. Or Grace? or Leah?
Hope this helps!
Good luck!

Both names are lovely, however i agree with a few other mums that Indy does remind me of the car racing! However Indiana and Indigo are nice.
Indiana Bree Clayton or Indigo Jade Clayton sounds beautiful i think. Kayleigh is a gorgeous name (preferred spelling there) and Renee' is a nice middle name i think. Best of luck with your choices and new arrival :)

I really like Kayleigh and but Indy does sound a bit funny to me. I'd be inclined to change it slightly to " Kayleigh India Clayton" ;)
Good luck - it's so hard finding names!
