Anyone recommend an OB in the St George area that is happy to do elective c/s?
I have read that Queeny Wong and Margaret Booth are both very good and work out of Hurstville Community but don't know if they do elective c/s. Also heard that Greg Davis is very good too.
I preferably want to go to Hurstville Community....any suggestions would be appreciated.

I went to see Dr Davis once...he talked to my husband the whole time and thought I was invisible....needless to say...I gave him the flick.
I had Ian Simpson...he was fab...I liked him.

James Opperman is a lovely man, has a very nice bedside manner and is a dad himself.
He delivered DS1 by c/section (@ Hurstville Community) and I only had him because it was a weekend and it was my OB's weekend off (who by the way was Dr Davis - nice enough, but a little too up himself for my liking).
Would have had Opperman for #2, but we couldn't afford the OB fees on one wage, can HIGHLY recommend him!

In regards to a good ob, I am going through my first pregnancy with Dr Michael O' Connor who works both public and private at St George. He deals well with emergencys or so Im told. Have had alot of friends go through him as well as my sister and girlfriend and all are happy with him. Good luck!

Funny thing was I was supposed to see Opperman (who works with Davis) but got Davis instead....when I told the 'girls' at the clinic I was shafting him they smiled and said :No he's not your style....Opperman would have been better for you.
Everybody's different!!!
If we're talking vagina's...I want to feel comfortable with the guy you know!?

I just need to say that I rang Dr Opperman's office and Dr Booth's offices yesterday and found the information that I received really unhelpful.
I did however ring Dr Davis' offices a little while ago and the receptionist was very helpful and explained everything that I would have to pay and what would happen on my first visit and when I would have to come in for my first visit etc.
I am thinking that I might go with Dr Davis and even though I don't think he works out of Hurstville Community anymore, I might go private at St George Public. Haven't heard wonderful things about the care at St George Private.
Anyone else have any other suggestions. I also really want an OB that will do an elective c/s with maybe the option of a natural birth (I know it sounds like I am doing it the wrong way around).
Thanks

I recently had my DD and had Dr Catherine Tiernan as my OB. She was very good and also does elective c/s (had a friend who requested an elective c/s with her).
Good luck.

Hi Im pregnant too :) i need some advice about finding a relaiable and friendly obstetrician who works at Calvary Hospital Hurstville Community or St . George Private. im going to Hurstville community today for a tour and will get a list of doctors. Does anyone have any recommendations. this is my 1st pregnancy and i was also told not to be embarresed about asking them how much they charge, is that rude? i heard they can charge up to $ 4000 ?????????????
I am 27 weeks pregnant (today :D ) & booked into Hurstville Community. My OB is Dr Booth.
I am VERY happy with Dr Booth from Penshurst & would highly recomend her (not sure if she does elective c/s.)
I am with a private Health fund & from what i can remember we will be out of pocket with my OB approx. $1800.00. (additional costs with the hospital depends on if you have an epidural etc) NEVER feel embarresed about asking the costs !
Dr Booths staff will also explain to you the costs in great detail.
I also recommend the ante natal classes at Hurstville, I just finished them last night & found them very informative ! I also went to an open day at the hospital around 2 months ago & met many of the midwives who I thought were absolutley wonderful.
Good luck ! :p

Hi i went on a tour 2 St George Private Hospital and the service was ****....excuse the french:) I felt the midwives were not friendly, the atmosphere was cold beginning with the front desk to the maternity section. On the other hand i went to Hurstville community and the service was great. wE had one midwife per couple to show us the hospital and facilities. I felt comfortable with her and so did my hubby. So now we have decided it will be Hurstville community. Im still not sure about Dr Mark Carlton or Dr Karen Harris? please can someone recommend? I tried to book Dr Booth but she is unavailable in August. any help would be appreciated.
thank you

Did u get a response for this? I am thinking about her as well, but haven't been able to find anything. She's not openly listed in the RANZCOG website either. Else, who did u use and where did u give birth. Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Hi
I am due early August as well, this is number 3 for me. I had Dr Mark Carlton for my first 2 and found him to be alright, he had also delivered my 2 youngest brothers and my sisters 3 children, unfortunately she had dramas with her last birth that might of been avoided with more care, everything worked out well in the end.

It is my first pregnancy and I am with Dr O'Connor at Kogarah. I had previous gyno problems and went to him. He is a lovely man. Funny sense of humour but if you can smile while getting checked out for gyno stuff...that is a good sign!

Hi,
I know this thread is not recent but I just wanted to say that I went to him for my first pregnancy which sadly ended in miscarriage (blighted ovum). I was not happy with the service I received in his practice not just because he spoke to my husband most of the time but because my first appointment was given at 11 weeks- and the secretary knew that I in my late 30s, and that it would be at 11 weeks.
Even worse was that I got Asherman's syndrome (intrauterine adhesions) which resulted in infertility after a d&c performed by Dr Davis. It wasn't directly his fault and I'm not blaming him for it although he told me it was an 'extremely rare' complication, which is untrue as I've since found out. In fact, had I had the d&c or preferably a medical abortion at an earlier stage of pregnancy, I would probably not end up with Asherman's. Scientific literature reports that up to 25% of women who have a d&c postpartum, and up to 30% of women who have one after a missed miscarriage long after fetal death get some form of Asherman's.
I think he is also against the use of medical abortion because I asked him about using misoprostol and he told me it is banned but I now know that is has been used 'off label' in this country for quite some time.
This happened at the end of 2006 and I've had to go through formal diagnosis and surgery to remove the adhesions (btw there is only one Dr in Australia who is an expert in this area) and I'm now finally able to start ttc again.
If I do fall pregnant I will not be going back to Dr Davis.
