I am getting the mirena iud put in on monday so i hope i have no problems with that. its supposed to have the least amount of side effects.
Anywho i was wondering what contraception we all use.
I am currently on the mini pill but I don't think I'll stick with it for much longer.
I finished a 2-and-a-half week period and, a week and a half later, I've started bleeding again :banghead:
Pre-unexpected-pregnancy, we used condoms. That worked a treat, huh? :D
Before that I used the pill but that played havoc with my libido. Before that (quite the connoisseur, aren't I?) I used depo-provera. Hated it - I spotted through the entire second month and it also buggered around with my libido.
At this stage, I'm going to probably try a different mini-pill (as I'm still breast feeding) or possibly implanon. Although it's the same stuff as depo-provera, apparently the dosage is much smaller and so the ill effects are less likely.
By the way, whoever it was that voted for the "withdrawal method", you do know that has a high risk if pregnancy, don't you? Pre-cum contains a lot of sperm and there's no way to know when that is happening.

I voted other. I no longer have sex and that's working out to be a pretty good contraceptive so far.
have the mirena and am happy with it now but getting it in wasn't pleasant due to the incompetence of the doctor. it's supposed to be a fairly straight forward procedure. im glad it lasts for 5 years!

It was the pill and then condoms, but I find pregnancy much more reliable.
After this baby, I will be getting my tubes tied and DH will be getting the snip. How sad, I'd rather have more babies. :(

I was using the implanon which is an implant btw not an injection (don't want to scare people) until Nov but now nothing... i doesnt mattr right now as I'm just kind of stablising my cycles (after having basically none with it in) then we'll be TTC... and my DH works away a lot so its only a very small possibility of falling pg and we made sure that basically from the time I had it out we were prepared for me to be pg!
Before I had that in we used condoms... thought we were a little forgetful sometimes oh well "forgetting" can be a blessing too! I know I have 2 blesings with my kids! and then seeing as I have really low oestragen levels for approx 6 months after (as in menopausal levels) I dont really have to worry about then! Lol
Will be going on the Mini Pill (As i'm breastfeeding). DF will eventually get the snip..
im on the mirena now and had no prob with it at all... went to womens health clinic to have it inserted and they were briliant! Before that i was on the pill and felt sick all the time!!!

oh wow
Hi,
For ten years we only used the withdrawl and rythem method. And we have two planned children! So it worked beautifully for us.
But now looking at getting the implanon inserted at the 8wk check-up. Thought it may regulate my moods a bit better (when AF finally comes back - am BF at the moment).
I breifly tried the pill very early on (when I was about 16yrs) and it didn't entirely agree with me, hoping the implanon is much better.
Just concerned about the implanon and BF - does it effect your milk supply??

Condoms for us. I hate the pill and I always forget to take the mini pill and the withdrawl method got me pregnant twice!!!
We were using condoms but I was freaking out as I have irregular periods, not sure how many preg kits I brought...lol.
So now on the pill again. Which I was before having kids and after my first son. I do get side effects which get annoying, but at the moment its best for my sanity!!!! lol
I voted other. I no longer have sex and that's working out to be a pretty good contraceptive so far.
lol i reckon your safe then :D

Condoms for us, I was on the pill for years before DD, and haven't bothered to go back on cause we'll TTC later this year, and couldn't be bothered stuffing around with the pill for a short amount of time.
Not exactly sure what its called but Ive been using a variation of the billings method for the past 6 years as contraception and for conception. Its worked a treat.

well i was on the pill for 5 years (never ever missed one! or took it at the wrong time) dh and i wore condoms everytime (never had a broken one) but we still got our little miracle lol obviosly for us if its meant to be its meant to be...
we wear condoms probally 80% of the time, ive given up on the pill though, other times its withdrawel.
i know withdrawel isnt 100% effective, and if we didnt want any more kids we would be more diligent i think. but at the moment, if it happens it happens!
experience has shown us its unstoppable lol
For me it was the mini pill but I seem to keep forgetting to take it so DF just uses condoms know. Once I stop breastfeeding I will be going on the pill. Micro something.
i just got my implanon out last monday :smiliedance: i felt rather strange while i was on it:yes: so i'm glad it's gone *hehe* and more babies for me now :yelclap: i would never ask dh to get the snip nor would he want me to get tied but thats just our opinion we will take what ever life throws at us even if it's like 12 kids:eek: LOL

I've just finished using depo, the injection. It used to work well for me but since having DD, I've had ridiculously long (and frequent) periods with it (where I used to have none with it). I'm using nothing at the moment, but it doesn't matter as we're in a draught at the mo anyway. I'll be starting on the pill in a few weeks, just gotta hold out to see what side-effects I get from some other medication I'm using first.
ive had the copper iud in for 4 years.
only side effects i have are heavy periods.
I clicked withdrawal but I meant implanon.
I'm sooo stupid tonight

At least I'm not the only one:o
funny, i was talkin to DP about contraception today.
what long term contraception can you take whilst breastfeeding?
i am pregnant now but plan to breastfeed :fingerscrossed: when baby is born but also want to take a contraception such as the implanon or something similar that is a long term option.
i'm thinking i wont be able to because of the hormones and stuff as i have no idea about contraception beyond condoms and the pill.
but after this baby i dont want to have another for at least 3-5 years and DP doesnt like condoms.
we've had no problems with the withdrawal method but thats not a highly effective method is it now? :shame:
i used to take the pill til it made me sick and although it is reliable, i am not. i forgot to take pills of any kind (pregnancy brain...)
can someone enlighten me please?
