Hi all you ladies with more than one bub, I'm wondering if people found their morning sickness better or worse after the first pregnancy. (Thinking of TTC #2 and trying to work out if I could manage to look after my bub if I was really crook.)
BTW if anyone has any coping strategies I'd be more than keen to hear them!
Thanks.

Mine seems to depend on the gender.
I had yucky all day sickness with all three, getting worse in the evenings. With both of my previous pregnancies (girls), it got far worse later in the day, and was horrid after dinner. It also stopped like flipping a switch at 16 weeks both times.
This time I am carrying a boy. The nausea was in full swing 24/7, but worse in the evenings again, and persisted till 20 weeks. Since 26 weeks, it still makes a guest appearance some evenings, dammit. It was a nice 6 weeks without it!
My coping strategies were grapefruit juice before getting out of bed, a herbal tea blend with some spearmint in it, some Preggie Pops (herbal lollypops for morning sickness), especially the Sour Fruit Flavours, eating Mandarins like there was no tomorrow throughout the day, and going to bed straight after dinner, as the problem was less if I was asleep. I also found exercise helped, and continued swimming throughout the ordeal. There is also an organic ginger beer with added peppermint which is sold as a travel sickness remedy, but I found it helped me a lot. It's Wort Organic Traveleasy. It's often cheaper if you buy a case of it at the organic shop than buying single bottles.

With my first baby I vomited 24/7 for 6mths and ended up on a drip in hospital 3 times !!!! Nothing I could really do to stop it ..... I did have a few weeks where I lived on watermelon and dorito's !!!!
Second pregnancy I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was 20 weeks (there are only 11mths between babies) And I had absolutly no sickness what so ever !!! So go figure !!!!
My first baby was a girl and second a boy .......but i don't think the sex of the baby has much to do with it ....... yet I have a friend that swears that girls make you sicker !!!!
Ginger Beer is good to help calm the tummy !!!! :p
Hi
I didn't have real problems with MS with either pg, it was the same - like a low level of nausea all day and worse if I let myself get hungry. Maybe slightly less second time around (or maybe I just knew better how to handle it  ).
Cheers
Hardly anything first time around with DS, this time has been a nightmare, which is continuing at 16 weeks (although it is getting better!).
But trust me you cope! I was vomiting a couple of times a day and there was only really once or twice when it effected O. I can usually tell about 10seconds before and try to give him something that will occupy him during that time.
Listen to me, tactics for occupying your child while vomiting??!! Never thought I'd have to do that!! :p
I'll let you know in 2 weeks whether this one is a girl or a boy. Everyone keeps telling me you have the opposite for opposite sexes. We'll see!!
Well i was the same with both mine i felt really sick but never throw up... :D
First time I felt sick all day but only threw up a few times but second time around it was much worse. I would vomit up whatever I ate or drunk a few minutes later including water. My DD who was 2 at the time would come up and rub my back when I was throwing up. I ended up being hospitalized 3 times and in the end they put me on "zofren" a medication given to people undergoing chemo. This was the only thing that stopped the vomiting.
My only advice is if you do get sick don't leave it too late to go see a Dr there are things like Maxalon that you can take safely.

Hi,
I only had slight nausea with my 2 girls (now ages 8 and 11).
This April I fell p/g with my 3rd and from about a week after I found out I was so nauseous for 24 hours a day I could not eat or drink (even a sip of water). This went on for two weeks, I went to see my local GP after a week who gave me Maxalon but it actually made me worse, (it doesn't agree with some women and I'm one of them).
I did not actually vomit (but believe me I wanted to).
After two weeks of 24/7 nausae I ended up going to hospital terribly dehydrated. I was also put on a drip and given Zofran (oh boy what a godsend, instantly felt better and could eat something). Highly recommend going to see your GP if you are feel like your'e not coping.
I started having panic attacks and would not let my husband out of my sight, he had to take a week off work because I was so ill, and the worse I felt the more panicked I got, and vice versa.
Unfortunately I ended miscarrying on 10th May so I'll never know whether it was a boy (hence the terrible sickness as my other 2 were girls).
I actually think mine has a lot to do with age, I'm only 37 but the last time I was pregnant I was only 29 so maybe my body is just getting ready to 'get old;, lol. I'll never know, but I'm ready to get p/g again because I know that there are avenues out there to help you through it. It's easy enough for people who have had the m/s to say 'you get through it' however mine was diagnosed as hyperemesis gravidarum and I actually thought I was going insane at one stage.
Having said that though, your pregnancy may not have any m/s at all, I've heard of women who have severe m/s with their first, and then none at all with their second.
Good luck, just know that if you get m/s there are ways to cope and people that can help.

I had "all day" sickness with both for about 8 weeks, but the nicest part about 2nd time round is that when #1 is asleep you can sleep too!! (that is provided they still have a day sleep).
Yep, housework will pile up, but if your feeling yuk, then nothing like a good lie down to make you feel better!

With Number 1 i had all day sickness from 5 weeks till 16 weeks. Number 2 was all day again and from 6 weeks till 12 weeks. So not too much difference.

With my first pregnancy, I was vomitting and feeling like crap most of the time. Urgh, I can remember it well. My second pregnancy though I only had a couple of weeks of vomiting and then half the time forgot I was even pregnant because I felt so good, well until the bulge got rather prominent and the kicks got harder, then I remembered.! Second baby was a girl. :D

Thanks for the replies ladies. At least I know it's possible to cope (even if it's not fun).

Take the chance, and look at it this way, if we all post poned having more children incase we got bad m/s I think there would be alot of us not having any more children ;)

BTW my second was alot worse m/s wise than my first, my daughter was 3 at the time and she got used to the fact that every evening I was very sick and had to lie on the couch :p
