How do you cope with a toddler and a 7 year old?

It has just started getting a lot harder now the younger girl has turned 20 months, as soon as her sister returns home from school she gets upset. It must be the big change from having all my attention all day but it gets very frustrating and she cries constantly and it breaks my heart.

Is anyone else in the same situation and can tell me how they deal with it? She wont even let the 7 yr old sit on my lap when we play and it makes it really hard on the older child.

Oh wow! I don't have that problem yet, as Zara just adores her sisters... hmmm except for one night where I was changing her nappy and blowing rasberries on her tummy which she thought it was great!! That was until Lexie wanted a turn and then Zara just sat there screaming!! I thought it was cute at the time and luckily it didn't last long!

I think if it were to happen all the time, like your situation, I would probably ignore the tanty's, even take the 7 year old and just go to another room, but as soon as the toddler settles down, give her a hug and include her in a game.....

Good luck!

Wow, that WOULD be hard! I have the opposite problem, Matthew cries when the other 2 leave for school. He is their third wheel.

Does the 7yr old play with the baby much?? Maybe she gets upset because she wants to play with her, I don't know.

I'm totally stumped to be honest.
