View Full Version : Biting Mummy

My 10 month old has just cut his top two teeth and has discovered a new game called "lets bite Mummy!". I have bruises and marks all over my arms, shoulders and chest from where he bites me. I have tried to discipline him by saying "NO" each time but he just laughs. I am now putting him down and ignoring him as discipline instead and trying to reward good behaviour with cuddles and kisses but he is still biting!

He never tries to bite his dad and when my DP says "NO" to him, Zach cries as he knows he is in trouble. And odly enough, he has never bitten me when I bf him?

This is driving me mad! Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Caitlin

Hi Cait,

My son did exactly the same thing. I found just shouting no ( don't just say it) putting him straight down and walking away really effective. I think as Mums we tend to be a bit soft in how we speak whereas Dad's big gruff voice is very intimidating so we need a short, sharp lound - NO!

Its just a big game to him so if you put him down and walk away it becomes a boring game and he should stop

Anyway I hope that helps

Hi Meshan,

Thanks for the advice. I have been trying what you said and it seems to be slowly working. He still thinks it is hilarious when I say (or shout) "NO" but putting him down and ignoring him seems to be working well....boys just can't do without the attention!

Hopefully he will grow out of this soon!

Thanks,
Caitlin
