Clingy baby - anyone else??

Hi guys

My 6 week old bubba is incredibly clingy! I'm really struggling with this... She will not settle unless she falls asleep on the boob. Most of the time, if I rock or pat her to sleep and put her in her cot - she'll be awake in 10 minutes! I wear her in a sling a lot of the time - she will sleep, but then as soon as I try and put her down - "WAAAH!" I'm lucky I guess that cuddling me soothes her, but with a 22 month old toddler to handle as well, it becomes a bit wearing! I'm about to try a dummy which I've always been against (no offence to dummy users) - but you do what you have to do... I'm hoping someone out there can tell me that their bub was the same, and that it does pass! Please!!

HI Petster...my DS is only one day older than yours and is acting the same way...he's being incredibly clingy since last night...kept me up from 10pm to 5am this morning...everytime i put him down he screams and i soothe him in my arms...did everything...i put him down awake with a dummy, let him fall asleep in my arms, let him fall asleep on the boob but as soon as he is put down in the cot he wakes up within the next 5-10 minutes screaming...I just chuck it up to the 6 week growth spurt ...my sling/wrap just came in today...and he's in it now asleep...dont want to try and move him though he needs his sleep...so do i but him first i guess.
I'll keep an eye out on this thread see what advice mums out there have for us...:hugs:

Hi guys - have you maybe tried something like a sleep school like Tressilian or something? I think they even have a hotline that you can just ring if it gets too much...

From memory at this age this was normal - you have to remember that it was not that long ago that they were inside you. Not that that makes it any easier though...

The thing is he was sleeping fine in his own cot for the past week, he was sleeping 3-4 hours at a time...just yesterday he refused to go down in his cot..hopefully its just a phase that will end soon...very soon...:banghead:

DD was like that aswell, Id say its just normal. I just went with the flow we did try a dummy but she never took it at all even to this day. Im sure it will pass

my son is a day older then yours and is the same. very clingy. will go to sleep in my arms but will wake as soon as i put him in the cot. today has been the worst
