You could probably get involved in party planning, there are heaps out there, candles, jewllery, there is a really cool one out there that sells Bali jewllery, shoes, bags etc, but I suppose you'd have to be into that sort of stuff. Atleast you can work what hours you want. Keep your thinking cap on!!!

Not sure if family daycare appeals to you. You get to choose the hours and days you wish to work. A great way to earn extra cash from home and your DD gets to have a few friends to play with.
Rach&Mak,
You don't say whether you want to work for yourself, or for someone else, but the best advice I can give you is to do something that you love. It sounds really cliche, but if you can find something you're passionate about, it will not only give you a source of income and allow you to spend time with your family, but it will give you an incredible sense of fulfilment.
I recommend a book called "Making a Living Without a Job", by Barbara Winter (www.barbarawinter.com (http://www.barbarawinter.com)). I bought my copy at Borders.
I quit the corporate treadmill 18 months ago and now run my own business from home as a writer, public speaker and trainer. As I'm now 21 weeks pg, I'm very excited about being able to spend time with my new bub. :smiliedance:
I won't lie, it's not easy to start a new business, but there is help available and it's totally worth it. If you are currently receiving any welfare payments, you could try accessing the NEIS scheme through the Dept of Employment & Workplace Relations. The New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) helps eligible unemployed people to start up and run a new, viable small business.
Alternatively, you could try getting a conventional job with a company that has liberal policies on employees working from home, but these can be hard to come by.
Good luck!

Hi There,
I just stumbled across your post and thought I would send you a reply. I had a baby 2 years ago and was in the same boat although I caouldn't afford not to go to work so I started party planning. I didn't think it would work but before I knew it everything was booming. I work with a very well known product, there was no cost at all to start up and I was away and running very quickly with alot of support from the company.
If you wants some tips and ideas I am happy to point you in the right direction.

Hi,
I live in Perth and I'm due in about 3 weeks with my first child. I work from home at the moment and will continue working from home doing the same thing as I love it. I work what ever hours I want.
Alright what is it you do?
I found Avon more work than I earn.

Hi girl!
My Name is Tahnee, I have a 6 month old son.
I have been wanting to find something to do that will bring in some extra money.
I have recently signed up with a health & beauty company. Its great! What you earn depends completely what you want to put in to it. They sell hairs products, make up, baby products, animal products the list goes on. I love it.
The thing I like, is I can do party plans, sell it over the internet, promote via adds, I can even sell it to shops if I wish. Another good point, if you don't have any sales you don't have to order, there is no minimum order and you don't have to order every month. So if you want a break you can.

hi deebee, just saw your post, could you tell me what kind of business you are doing and is it still working well? i started my own PA business but am finding i am a bit slack when it comes to the marketing side of things.
Hi
I have 2 boys 3 and under and run a farm as well, but in addition I have a part time work from home business. The company I work with researches and makes top quality preservative free skincare, nutritional supplements and weight loss products. There is only a small upfront cost (and you actually get product worth more than this with your starter pack), there is no minimum sales requirement (you can do nothing for 3 or more years and then just pick up where you left off) and there is support from those who are already on your team to get you going.
I think it is a great company and has an excellent compensation plan for paying its asociates. I would recommend it to anyone but you have to remember the harder you work the more you will get paid....beware of schemes that promise much reward for little imput.
Good luck with whatever you choose.
