Hi everyone,
Just a fly by as I only got home today and still have a million things to do before trying to get some sleep.
Thanks to everyone for your warm wishes - I found the threads and thanks to MD and JNT for keeping you all informed.
We're very excited to welcome bubs to our family. He's extremely gorgeous and very much like his big brother. I'll hopefully have more time over the next couple of days to put up my birth story, but the brief outline for those interested is this......
Picking up from the other thread, nothing happened overnight so we headed to the hospy at 7.30am on Sunday morning. They found that my membranes had ruptured up high and that's where the slow trickle was coming from and that the membranes were still intact around the baby's head, so they broke them and about 20 mins later contractions started up more frequently and stronger. They still stuck the drip in me to get things firing up. I'll save all the nitty gritty for the birth story, which won't be too long as I only had 2hrs46min of contractions, 10mins pushing and 4mins to birth placenta - so it was 3 hours all up. Ended up being drug free - didn't even get any panadol for my headache - how rude. I'm not wonderwoman by any means - I asked for drugs but the epi wouldn't go in and by the time they decided to change approaches and try again it was too late - he was on his way. Milk hasn't come in again this time - which flared up my day three baby blues and left me in tears yesterday, but I've started the meds earlier this time around and basically spending 24/7 with him attached to my boob (plus comp finger feeding as he's already lost his 10% and they wouldn't let me take him home if I didn't comp feed, which is fair enough).
Anyway, I'd better get some stuff done and then rescue DH from rocking duties (bubs is extremely unsettled as he came out ready for a hearty pub meal and he's none too impressed with his flimsy diet of colostrum).
