ok if a www address is available, do you need to register it as a business name or can you just run with your own ABN (in your personal name) without actually registering the business name? Hope I make sense...thanks

my partner just registered his business name it is sooo easy and has an abn for his business which was just as easy, his website is now set up as his business name... so yeh i would suggest you register your business name and use it for ur website, will create less confusion later on and no one will be able to take ur business name ..............

if you want a .com.au you need a registered australian business to verify your use of that name.

for just a .com you dont need the business name.

i suggest you purchase both tho so that you cover your business from all angles. you may be local now but how would you feel if you suddenly went international and someone already had your name. or if someone started up in opposition to you by purchasing the .com

do both to be secure.

I only registered a .com address and it doesn't show up on google search if the "searcher" selects "the pages from australia" button.

It costs more for a .com.au but I'd do it.

PS Register online for your ABN, you'll get it a lot lot quicker than filling in forms.
