I stopped drinking tea/coffee during the first trimester but have over this summer period had a glass of coca-cola every other day. I heard that the caffeine content in coke is quite intense...
has anyone spoken to their doctor about caffeine intake?

I'm a bit worried I've had too much.

Hey Summerlump,
I too have indulged in the odd coke every now and again. I'm 24 weeks with our second baby, and sometimes I just need a fizzy coke fix..... obviously it's not the most beneficial drink to have, but one every now and again wont hurt.
I was told by my doctor that up to four serves of caffeine a day is fine, and not too extreme, so I just count my coke serve as probably two.
I did drink coke with my first son in the same respect, and he come out fine, so, don't panic too much unless you're permanently sucking on a coke bottle!
Hope this eases your mind - welcome to the guilt ridden world of parenting! :smiliedance:

hey summerlump..
I spoke to my doctor about this.. I am 34 weeks pregnant and got the craving for a big glass of coke on ice.. she said it was fine to drink in moderation. So have your coke and enjoy. (i'm going to have one now)

I agree with bechope:yes:
I work in neonatal unit as a nurse and I have seen withdrawal effects of caffine has on babies and its not nice!
One glass a day is fine, the caffine is less in coke than coffee but dont touch the high energy drinks like redbull or V as they have a brain stimulator in them call taurine. I recommend full stenght coke as well as we dont know the effects on the artifical sweetners on babies.
Hope this helps and remember to drink your 8 glasses of water in this hot heat so bub has lots to swim in!:p

Thanks for starting this thread! I didn't drink coke or eat much sweet stuff until I fell pregnant and it has been all I wanted. For some silly reason I didn't really think coke would be too bad and have had a glass at least 5 times a week

Glad to read that I haven't over done it.

I stopped drinking coke completely in the 1st trimester with DS but by the 3rd i was dying for a can!! It makes it hard when you are craving something you're not spose to have a lot of. With this bub i did give it up again but i have to admit i do drink at least a glass a day:shame:
