My little boy is 18 weeks and has been on Zantac now for quite a while. He has been really happy and we haven't really had any problems but the last couple of days (coincidentally the day after his 4 month needles when I told the Dr he was doing really well with his reflux!) he has been madly sucking his fists and wanting to feed every 2 hours again and really hard to settle to sleep. He seems to be not too bad during the night - sometimes wakes often for water. I thought maybe it could be teeth but he seems to be shoving his fingers right into the back of his mouth, not the front. Anyone else had the Zantac stop working after a little while?

Yes I found Zantac didnt work after a while, has the dose been increased as he is growing? My peadatrician told me my son may need a little more for his weight.
Let your Dr know & see what happens.

My son has been on Zantac since he was about 6 weeks old (he is 6 months old today)... I notice that when he is unsettled for about 3 days then I usually have to increase his dosage..
Best thing is too ring your doctor and ask... You may need to increase... If you increase the dosage and things still don't change then it may be something else.
Good Luck
You definately need to up the dosage as they grow. You could tell he was growing as the Zantac wasn't working as well, and sure enough when I weighed him he had put on a stack of weight!
It could be teething or something like that though, so get him weighed and see how you go. :)
I have never used Zantac, so can't help you with that one ... I think the other ladies are right, get him checked out as he may need a higher dosage.
The fingers at the back of the throat ... both of my kids did this ... mainly to gagging level but sometimes they would vomit. I think it is just something fascinating to do and they do grow out of it pretty quickly!
