View Full Version : AF after D & C??
1st Time Mummy!

I was just wondering if any of you ladies out there who have had the misfortune of having to go through a D & C could help me with how long after you have the procedure done do you get AF?? I have been bleeding on and off for around 8 days so far and it is slowly getting heavier, which I thought was a bit strange. I would of thought it would get lighter the more time that went on. I am just dying to start TTC again and I have no clue where to start charting from. Do you class the first day of the procedure as the first day of your cycle?
Would love it someone could help me by sharing their experience.

Hi
Sorry to hear about your lose.
I received my AF 1 month after I had my D&C. I was told to wait until after the first AF to start TTC again...
We have decided to wait until next month to TTC...

Sorry for your loss:hugs:
I had my first AF 6 weeks after my D&C, and fell pregnant that month. I was also told to wait until after my first AF.
Good luck.

I had a D&C 12 days ago...not for a miscarriage though, just some girlie probs....my bleeding was heavy for the first 2 days...then kind of dissapeared for a few days, then came back heavy...then dissapeared...I was taking the pill the whole time and I now have my proper AF.
Not sure if that heaps.

sorry for you loss :hugs:
most get their AF back between 4 and 6 wks, but some have knowen to not get theirs back for up to 8wks, as for your bleeding getting worse, maybe go for a check up, just incase they have left something behind, although in saying that, some bleed on and off for the first week or so, i'm a funny bleeder like that, i'll start to think its all stopping and the next day will be heavier than the day before, usually happens when i've been quite active the day before

I got a really light bleeding about 4 weeks after but proper AF around 8 weeks.
It's been about 12 days since my d&c and the bleeding stopped last Friday (exactly 1 week after the procedure). I too am now patiently waiting for AF to arrive....:banghead:
I am counting the day of the d&c as my first cycle day - likely to be out of whack, but should give me some sort of time frame to work from.
Will keep you posted about the arrival of AF!!

Its been a week tonight since my D&C... I too have had bleeding on and off... When I think its done, I have more bleeding and usually a bit heavier than the day before...
I'm counting my D&C as the first day of my cycle, so hopefully I will have AF back in 28 days...
I returned to normal AF 6 weeks after DS was born (even though he was exclusively breastfed), so hopefully :fingerscrossed: AF will return to normal, sooon...
Well I was going to Post a similar Thread because I too am curious how long it takes for AF to come back after D&C. I had my D&C just over 4 weeks ago (or exactly a month today :crying: ) and I just wish AF would come so I can start getting back into it! My mum (the positive little thing that she is!) keeps saying that maybe the 'Clean Out' (D&C) will make my cycles more regular since they are always all over the place as I have PCOS. I dont know if she is right or not but I got my :fingerscrossed: anyways!
Anyway 1sttimemummy, its been over 4 weeks for me and no sign of AF yet. I bled for just under two weeks from memory  . But my 'bleeding' was more like brown CM and it was very light. However it did get heavier on some days than others until it stopped completely. It wasnt like AF where it starts off heavy and then gets lighter and lighter until it stops (well thats what my AF is like anyways).
Hope that helps... and I am so sorry for you loss hun :hugs:
