View Full Version : New Midlife Mum here...
Hi All, just finished reading the thread here about older mums and wanted to introduce myself. I'm 45 and have two daughters aged 26 and 4.5. My youngest was born six days after my 41st birthday and was a total surprise!
Fast forward to two weeks ago when I was feeling rather nauseaus, bloated, sore boobs, adominal discomfort...and my period was late. This is unusual for me as I have been like clockwork my entire life. I absolutely believed that this was a sign of peri-menopause and prepared myself to become philosophical about officially kissing my childbearing years goodbye.
This past weekend I felt especially nauseaus and had a thought that I might possibly be pregnant...so to be sure I took a pg test and it was positive. After picking his jaw up off the floor when I told him, dh went out and bought a second test "to be sure" lol.
I have an appointment to see my GP next week.
About a month ago I FINALLY gave away mosat of my youngest's baby toys, cot, highchair, stroller and the like. I always thought that was an old wives tale about women falling pregnant once they gave away their baby gear!
I live in Brisbane and would love to meet other 'midlife mums' out there.
Anyone want to come and say hi and chat with me through this journey?

Hi Peachez,
Congratulations!!! :hugs:
I have a growing suspicion that a womans fertility can peak dramatically when she's in her 40's and for some women even in their 50's.
I have 2 dd's aged 6 and 10mths which were planned but I can honestly say that my body wants another baby. I'm 41 and have become very aware lately that my body is very fertile at the moment. And, I am clucky all the time :D
Menopause is a while away yet for some of us.
I wish you the very best of luck with your journey.
 Hope all does well. It can be anything when it comes to these women problems lol. It may just turn out to be M or stress. Ditto the baby gear. In my case I didn't know I'd even get find Mr Right much less have a baby. I'm 38 this Aug My Hubby 48 in Nov.Anyway I've 2 older children son 16 in March & daughter 13 in Nov. Long story I'm a cut off mum- they live with their evil dad. BTW on Monday I'll get my eggs collected for ICSI. :fingerscrossed: this cycle will turn out well & baby #3 be a perfect  . I'm not in my early 20's anymore so I pray I can cope as a mum. Take care. Thanks 118
Thanks Ethereal, for the lovely welcome! :hugs:
I was a little clucky a couple of years ago but since that time I've been preparing myself for the inevitable perimenopausal wind-down.
One thing I'd forgotten about is the permanently queasy feelings I have when pg. Smells and most foods are really bothering me right now. I'm hoping this will improve with time but I know with my last daughter I was sick for the whole pregnancy, morning, noon and night. Fingers crossed this time won't be as bad! :barf:
(these smileys are cracking me up!)
I'm not sure how to quote posts at this stage but just wanted to say that I agree with you that some women seem to become inexplicably fertile in their 40s' and 50's. I worked for a principal in the US who got pg naturally at 53! She miscarried (much to her relief) but it just goes to show that we can't be complacent about birth control just because we reach a certain age!
Thanks for the kind thoughts 118. :hugs:
At 38 you are still young and you'll be fine with a baby. I had my last child six days after I turned 41 and she's been a complete joy. You appreciate them so much more with some life experience behind you. It is true that for some of us our energy levels aren't what they used to be, but the same can be said for younger mums, too. I'll also add that my labor with number two at the age of 41 was quite easy - a few pains in the afternoon, admitted to hospital at 8.45pm and gave birth at 9.08pm. 23 minutes of pushing and it was all over. That was faster than the hour it took me to push out my oldest daughter when I was eighteen years old and healthy as a horse.
All the best with your cycle, I'll be sending you sticky vibes for baby number three!
Let me know how you get on.
Peachez :)
So glad to hear from you. Hub bub is a God sent. Gives me great hope to soldier on. Your words of wisdom gives me strength. I thank you for your support. :hugs: Egg collection today went well- 8 eggs & hubby didn't need MESA- he was happy/no pain lol. Saturday the 10th Feb 2007 implant of Blastocyst (our #3 baby). She'll be just percet. BTW  Dr had to do an unscheduled biopcy as well. She saw an unusual cyst there. Won't know the results of cycs till I see her in ~6 weeks time. I believe its the meds - no big deal I'll disappear when my body calms down. God bless you & your family. Thanks for the positive vibes. 118:yes:
I just had my third child 2 months before my 41st birthday. I read somewhere that at 40 there's only a 5 % chance of falling pregnant. Well one slip up and here we are with the gorgeous Stella!
I agree that some of us are still very fertile in our forties! It's not like that for everyone however. Good luck to everyone who's trying to conceive and finding it difficult.
Congratulations Peachez! I hope you have a great pregnancy and don't feel too sick!
118 - It's not so hard being an older Mum. I hope you get that BFP!
Regards
Flib
Hi 118 ~ my very best wishes for the implant on Saturday! :hugs:
And fingers crossed that the cyst will disappear once you're off the meds.
Let me know how things progress, and if I can offer you any insights on having a baby later in life, feel free to talk to me anytime. :)
Peachez
 Hi Flib! Great to meet another mum who has been through the same thing. I know what you mean about the one 'slip-up', clearly the old :fingerscrossed: (I'm too old) method didn't work.
I have known quite a few women who've had babies in their 40's since I had my youngest at 41. Most wouldn't have it any other way.
I too feel for women who are trying to conceive and finding it difficult, and wish them every success in having a baby.
If you don't mind me asking, did you go public or private when you had Stella, and did you have any tests/screenings like the nuchal fold transparency, CVS or Amniocentesis?
Thanks for the support my earth   . 6 out of 8 embryos are doing well. :wizard:Implant day maybe Thursday or Saturday. Shall call in 24 hrs. for further details. Yes, ditto tips for being an older mum. Keep in touch.:p 118
Many thanks
Hope everyone isn't feeling too hot & your meds are not making you go mad with those 'pains'. How nice is it to be a dad  Someone should invent a dad wombs. So both parents can have a go at :chef: ...We went to the clinic to see how our embryos were doing so far embryologist said  1 = 6 others 4 & 2 splits. They are happy with their progress to date.No tel yet- it be a Saturday implant. Suits us well cause the healthier the blastocyst the better the outcome. We've a dinner date with family friends tomorrow night. I hope this surgery pains won't be so troublesome. She'd make the effort to cook a lovely meal I must make an effort to control the pain before I get there.Take care. 118
Wow, fantastic news about the embroyos! :hugs:
All the best with the implants when they happen - keeping my :fingerscrossed: and wishing you all the success in the world for a healthy baby.
 Hope all is well. I'm home. :wizard: Implated 2 this morning. The other 4 on hold. BTW went surfing on a toy box lid last night. I hurt my L big toe R hip & L shin. A nurse took a look at it post op today & it's ok. :hugs: 118
Peachez, I had Stella at a private hospital but only just - she was born 45min after we got there.
The only test I had was the nuchal translucency. I came back with a risk of 1 in 500. As everything else in my scan looked normal and my dates were right, we decided not to do any further tests. I didn't want to risk a miscarriage. I was a little nervous but she is developing and growing really well. And she's a very happy and smiley little girl!
118 - I hope your little embryos are growing. So exciting! Good luck!
We've finished our family now which is a little sad - I love having babies. Mind you our house is mad!!
Best wishes
Flib
Many thanks to you all :wizard: = Kaya.
Injuries are ok. I can walk better now. Just a bit of discomfort. is in reno mode for 9 month stay at resort Mamie lol. My Drs & I believe that 1 embryo = baby the other her support till she is strong enough to go solo.
Take care :hugs: 118
 19 Feb.2007 :bfp: . Thanks for your :hugs: 118
ooh 118 that is fantastic news, Im so happy you got that bfp, well done, I have been watching this thread, with fingers crossed!! That makes you an october mummy to be?? go join their thread under when are you due, theyre all going through the same thing at the same time, nothing like buddies..
WOw, great news, I was praying that they would take, now the thing is, heahaha, is there 1 or 2 babies in there?? cant wait to hear!
Hope your injuries are better also!
:hugs: jodie for your prayers. I'm in the ocy & first cycle club... It's been good so far. You all are  . It be only 1 baby. The other blastocyst was underdeveloped on implant day. It was put in as a companion for the strong one. I'm more than happy to have 1 health baby. 2 will be too greedy because I've 2 older children from a previous marriage. Unfortunately my son & daughter do not live with me as of abduction case ~Aug.1994. I'm a cut off mum.Fresh start now with hubby # 2 & babay #3. Have to push on with life.
Thanks my dear. 118
Congratulations 118. I'm so pleased you got good news!
October babies are great.
Best wishes and I hope it all goes well. Keep us posted.
Hope all is going well. Went for the 1st post conception ultrasound today. Niny is ~6 weeks old/ 6.5mm. EDD ~ 29.10.2007. 118
Great news 118. As you can see Stella was born 30/10 - nice time to have a baby as thw weather is good!
I can't believe how quickly it goes. This time last year I'd just found out I was pregnant and now my daughter is 4.5 months old and I feel like she's been with us forever!!
It's such a wonderful experience - I hope it all goes well.

Hi all!
I am 38 and expecting my 3rd bub in August 07 (am 19weeks now). I have a 2yr old DS and a 9yr old DS also. My hubby is 41.
Am quite nervous with this one! 2 kiddies under 3, I find this thought frightening! I know they are not that close together, but still nervous.
I had my nucal scan a while back and had 1 in 2700 odd chance so am not going to have any other tests done. My morphology scan is on Friday so :fingerscrossed: all is well with this too.
We recently moved to Sherwood in Brissy, so dont know many people in the area. Would love to meet some other 30Plus mums if anyone is interested.
Hi Taragirl
Congratulations on your pregnancy! It's good that your nuchal scan came back with a low risk. I hope your morphology scan goes well too! Are you planning on finding out the sex?
I was a bit nervous about having 2 children under 3 too. My eldest is 7 and he was, and still is, very excited about having a new baby. My 2 year old DD found it a bit harder. She's now 3 and at kinder. She suffered a bit from seperation anxiety - I think she found it very hard when I was in hospital. She does tend to be a bit naughty but it's usually because she's trying to get my attention. I'm trying to give her lots of cuddles and attention when I can. Sometimes this is hard when I'm breastfeeding.
It's challenging at times but wonderful to have 3 children. There's a lot to organise especially with an older school aged child.
Best wishes and keep in touch.
Flib
PS I'm in Melb but used to live in Bris.

My morphology scan went about as good as it can. Everything is looking wonderful which is fantastic news. Got some great 3D images from this scan that clearly show my lovely daughter looking beautiful. Yes, its a she. My OH and I didnt believe it, we were convinced we were having another boy (which would have been fine too) so are quite surprised and pleased for a girl. Hope everyone else gets as good news as we did.
cheers!
TG
Congratulations Taragirl - that's wonderful news! That's lovely that you're having a girl!
Happy Birthday Jariah! Good luck if you decide to TTC no.3! I had no difficulties at 40 so hopefully you'll get lucky too!

yay i got a reply!!my birthday was great thanks.
jariah.
Hi Tracey
I get the feeling that there aren't that many older Mums on bub hub. I feel ancient sometimes when I read posts from 20 year olds or younger! We're all Mums - just facing the challenges from different perspectives!
I'd love to be thinking about TTC again but my DH is going to have a vasectomy soon and we've finished our family with 3 kids. I got pregnant very easily at 40 so I still have to worry about surprise pregnancies!
Good luck and keep in touch

Hi Everyone....
Hope you all had a great Easter!
I am an older first-time mum.... I recently turned 41.
If anyone wants to email, please contact me.
I'm not always online at bubhub (due to work commitments), so find emailing easier....
Looking forward to hearing from some older mums....
I am now off to grab a much needed cup of caffeine!!! LOL I'm sure that my DD will be waking shortly for a feed :D
Hi everyone, anyone!!
ivfmummy - PM me if you like. I'm also 41 and in Melbourne. And our daughters are close in age. Antonia is a lovely name. Stella nearly had it as her first or middle name but DP didn't like it. It's a family name.
And, of course, congratulations.
So much to do, so little time. That's what happens when you have 3 kids and it's school holidays......
Best wishes

Hello lovely ladies. How fantastic to have somewhere to share where we are all around the same age.
I will be 44 in June and already have three lovely children. Sadly I miscarried a pgcy last year and honestly didn't think I would get another chance but lo-and-behold here I am expecting nr 4 in December. I call this one my Easter miracle baby as I only discovered I was pg on Easter Sunday.
I am scared but hopeful this time around.
Hoping to chat with others experiencing this joy in their 40's.
Hugs,
Amy:)

Seems like it might just be us at the moment Tab. Maybe the other ladies are chatting in another pregnant topic.
Congrats on your newest addition. How has the experience been for you so far? I am guessing good if you are going to ttc nr4..lol.
I wasn't expecting any more after my 5yr old was born but then last year I was shocked to discover I was pg again. It took a while to settle to the idea and just as I had, unfortunately had a m/c. I am glad to be given this opportunity again and thankfully everything feels way more normal this time around. *Fingers crossed*. I am having my first scan next Thursday just to see that all is well.
Are you ttc right now or will you wait a bit? I must say that I fell pg when my son was the same age as your baby dd is now. I don't have it in me to do that again..lol..but they are very close as a result which is cool..and are always mistaken for twins.
Hugs. Hope to chat more.
Congrats on your pregnancy and hope all goes well at the scan. Look forward to hearing about it.
The experience so far? Well katie is just the most adorable and happy baby that shes made it very very easy for me, apart from the sleeplessness but as soon as I lay eyes on her and she beams one of her smiles at me its all forgotten.
I figure I have plenty of time to sleep later when Im older lol.
She is absolutely no trouble, never crys and never really complains, have been very blessed thats for sure.
Will be officialy ttc in one weeks time, sadly I rushed in after dd and had the depo again but it wears off in a week, am hoping as it was only the one injection it wont take too long to get back to af & ovulation.
I had to take clomid with Katie after 6 months of trying but that was after 10 yrs on depo
Luckily I fell first rnd, :fingerscrossed: same again or not long.
Look forward to chatting more with you too

*Fingers crossed you fall again quickly Vicki*. I don't know much about Depoprovera only that ppl who have been on it long-term may take a bit to conceive.
I haven't used any contraception since I had an Implanon thing removed a few years ago. I kept it in for 18mths but the darned thing was giving me two periods a month! Aggghh..
I feel very blessed to have this last opportunity. It was very hard losing the pregnancy last year. I saw a naturopath and she gave me a false unicorn tonic. I took it from September to December as I wanted my uterus to be strong and healed after the loss. I can't say that it is the reason I am pg now, but I can't say it isn't either *shrugs*. She did say that if you have very regular periods then you are likely to still be very fertile. My grandmother had her last at 42 and he was born fine. Maybe I get to smash the family record..lol.
Best away and spend time with the kids. This is the last day of the school hols..woohooo! lol.

So happy I found this part forum, even if only you and me its great to have someone closer to age :)
I was on it long term before DD, 10 yrs !
Only took me 6 months after it wore off so hopefully as only 1 dose I return quickly to af and ovulate. I can feel my body starting to get back to normal allready, even had a pimple at what would have been af time! Depo was due Saturday
hmm School hols, Teen son is home educated so I dont get the relief while at school lol, bless him though he is a wonderful boy so I dont mind at all.
DD just had her 4 months needles on friday and not so good after effects, been a hard few days but shes improved today and should be back to her beautiful happy self tomorrow.
How are you feeling? Do you get morning sickness/tiredness etc?
With DD I had it quite good (- the GD ) up untill about 30 weeks where I got SPD and could hardley walk/move but as Im trying tcc again it goes without saying its all worth it and would do again heh.
Better go DP home shortly and we spend quality time while DD naps before dinner

Sorry I haven't posted for the last few days Vicki..life has just been so busy.
The scan went well today but my dates are out *as usual*..going by lmp it would put me at 7w 5d but going by measurements I am only 6w 6d *dang*. That means adding another six days to my due date so now the 21/12 is what we are aiming at..but at least we saw a heartbeat (149 per min) which alieviates a bit of the worry. We are not out of the woods yet though.
I feel tired, so tired. I feel nauseous some days, mostly in the late afternoons, and exhausted at the same time. My bbs are so sore too but thankfully I have never had m/s with any of my pgcys and I pray that I don't end up with fluid or diabetic issues but I am older now so who knows how it will go.
Your are brave to home school Vicki. My eldest dd should have had it as she was being brutalized at school, partly because she was a year younger than her classmates, and partly I guess due to her ADHD. In the end she just dropped out in year 11 and hasn't been tempted to returned to formal studies since. Not to say that she won't suddenly get the idea and run with it, but disappointing due to her gifted brain and the lack of exercise she is giving it.
Ds is in Grade 1 and holding his own. He has a wonderful teacher. Youngest dd is in Kinder (prep) but does half her day in grade 1 as she already knows the kinder work however I refused the suggestion that she be in grade 1 on a fulltime basis. I would much rather she be with her peers for social reasons after seeing what happened with my eldest dd.
OK. I have rambled on long enough. I had best away to bed as I can hardly keep my eyes open.
Hugs. Have a wonderful Friday.

Actually I forgot to say..I had the SPD from six weeks with the pgcy I m/c last year. That is why I think this one feels better this time around as I don't have any of the awful symptoms I had last time. I usually get sciatica in the last few months but I hope to avoid SPD..so debilitating.
OK..really off to bed this time..lol. Amy:)
Nice to see the scan went well.
Lovely hb too! Could be a xmas bubba. Katie was born 24th and I wouldnt have had it any other way, was the most beautiful xmas present ever!
I hope you rested well and are feeling better.
SPD from 6 weeks! Goodness and I thought I had it bad last 10weeks. It was there earlier but not too painful till the 30 weeks mark, I also got sciatica though only mildy thank goodness.
Must go, DP due home soon
Chat again soon xxx
Take care

SPD from 6 weeks! Goodness and I thought I had it bad last 10weeks.
Oh it was awful Vicki. I felt like my pelvis would shatter into a thousand pieces every time I moved, plus I had foul headaches, neck aches, and sciatica and couldn't fit any of my trousers by week 6. I was due on the 23rd December last year and very early into the pgcy joined a yahoo group for women due in Dec 2006. Another lady in the group had SPD from week 6 as well and also showed from that time. I lost my pgcy at 10.5 weeks but she went on to deliver a gorgeous baby girl, but suffered the entire pgcy with SPD and had to sit on rubber rings and try to sleep sitting on them too as it was too painful to lay in bed!
I assumed it had something to do with it being my 5th pgcy and maybe your pelvis just gets worse with each one but thank goodness I have missed out so far with this one. I would not like a repeat.
Have a fabulous weekend. I am going to help hubby clean out the garage so we can get our car in for winter..lol.
Any fun plans for the weekend?
Hugs,
Amy:)
Nope no weekend plans, DP was out of work for 6 weeks recently and only been back new job a month so things are tight at the moment.
Cant wait to get back on our feet so we can go out on occasion again.
Have read somewhere that SPD might not be in further pregnancies, am hoping so, if I do get again am sure as its rather soon since last it could be quite bad. Lucky I have lots of family support if need though.
Mine was also so bad in the end that I slept lounge upright for the last 6 weeks or so, laying in bed was excruciating to say the least.
hope your having a great weekend!

Hey Vicki,
Didn't end up doing much over the weekend. Hubby bought my Mother's Day present early..a body pillow. Dang it is huge..lol..you could fit a family of four on one of those!
This time around I am going to have all the things I wanted with the other pgcy's but never ended up getting. The body pillow was first on my list, followed by a breastfeeding pillow, a rocker/glider chair, and maternity clothes (rather than just buying the size up). I will wait until after my 12wk scan to buy the clothes..just need to be more certain that this one is a sticker.
Hugs for now,
Amy:)

Hi Amy
The end of the week not so good, both Katie and I have gotten a head cold. Shes holding up ok so far, then again nothing much fazes her, no matter how grumpy/tired or upset she still manages to goo and gah and giggle lol.
Im a different story though, its one of those really bad head colds! but as always we struggle through..
What plans for Mothers day do you have?
I have my parents and family coming here for morning tea, most likely end up lunch as well.
AM really looking forward to it, am hoping this head cold has eased though so i can indeed enjoy.

Hello hon,
I hoped you got over the worst of it by Mother's Day.It is making the rounds here in Canberra too. Unfortunately I fell victim to it on Sunday and spent the day in bed. I had Selia home on Friday and both the young ones in bed on Sunday sneezing and coughing. Like Katie they have so much energy so I sent them to school yesterday and they coped fine, although Selia is worn out and fractious tonight *sigh*.
So did the Mother's Day fairy treat you well?
My eldest dd came over and cooked tea for us and I scored some lovely pressies..a huge body pillow, some cd's, slippers, and chockies. Altogether a wonderful day.
I am going to head back to bed now. I have been getting plenty of rest while the kids are at school but it never seems enough.
Praying you are feeling much better now. Hopefully this pre-winter cold will innoculate us aqainst any of the nastier winter ills that are about to hit town.
Hugs,
Amy:)
hi Amy,
Sorry taken me so long get back to you. Usualy pop on early and only get time post my babys jan 2007 thread before shes awake or wants a cuddle.
Unfortunately Mothers day was the start of Katie getting it worse and my getting worse too, but some cold and flu tabs got me through!
Today is the first day of a all night sleep again and shes much much better, even went to sleep cot and not my arms as has been while ill. Phew thank goodness thats over, think Ive had it too easy with her and got spoilt lol. anyway all over now.
Your mothers day sounds like it went lovely!
Ours was absolutely wonderful, have been in constant contact my brother since and everyone was happy to see him, and of course he thought Katie was adorable heh. Havnt told him of out ttc again, can imagine his reaction as hes already amazed I had another.
Am so happy this morning, finally have my beautiful happy Katie back! Shes all talking and giggles again.
Hope your doing well.

Hello Vicki,
Glad to hear you had a lovely Mother's Day..made all the better by your brother's visit. That would have been really special.
I adore my brother but only see him every two years or so (military living in the NT). He came for Easter this year and it was awesome spending those few days together. My brother is two years older than me and never married/no kids (that he knows of anyway..lol). He adores his nieces and nephew as do they him. Like your brother I think he wonders sometimes about me popping kids out this late in the game but is always happy to welcome a new one.
It must lift your spirits to have your happy Katie back again. Funny how just a smile or a gurgle is enough to send us into rapture. I am so looking forward to experiencing that again.
I am still laid up with this awful bug. Hubby took a day off during the week so that I could sleep the whole day. I still feel rotten though and am really limited with what I can take..so I am stuck with Lemsip but it is not helping with the cough that keeps me up at nights. I am running the vapouriser all night. Hopefully the virus will run its course soon.
I was called up to the school yesterday as my son had been pushed to to ground by a bigger boy who merely laughed and walked away. I took ds off to the doctor. His face looks like someone took a grater to above and below one eye, the eyelid is almost swollen shut and he has a black eye. Poor baby. I will be speaking with the bully on Monday to ensure this doesn't happen again.
I am off to have a nap as I am sooo tired.
Hugs, hope you are well now.
Amy:)

ds pic on avatar
awww poor ds! Know only too well of bullies, short version its why I home school my 15yr old. It got way too physical and mental abuse that he couldnt deal with it, never looked back, within 6 months I had my old ds back again! Its been hard especially with a newborn but well worth the happiness he has.
Hope your feeling better soon :hugs:
Katie is fully over it but mine seems to be hanging on..
Also it looks like ds has german measles ( rubella) How on earth if hes vaccinated Ive no idea..Maybe its worn off, its only a mild case but am greatfull am immunized 100% ( booster after Katie as was low ) and also not pregnant so wont have additional worries of baby's health.
Am off for a early one,
take care Amy

Yeah, this bug is so hard to shake. The kids are out in the family room having a cough-fest and it has been about ten days so far. Can't wait until it's a distant memory as I worry about all this coughing during pregnancy and my belly aches.
I too know about bullying. My eldest has ADHD and was also the youngest in her class. This wasn't so marked in primary school but once she started high school she went the wrong way to fit in. She started hanging with the misfits and behaving badly. In year 10 the senior mistress rang me a number of times requesting I come and get her because "they couldn't keep her safe". Another girl was threatening her with a knife. Ultimately my daughter dropped out in year 11 as she couldn't take the bullying anymore. She worked for McDonalds for two years but has been unemployed for the past six months now. Terribly sad for a girl who is gifted and with a bit of study could choose any career her heart desires. I pray she finds her feet soon.
I also had the booster shot for Rubella within hours of Selia's birth so hopefully I will be covered this time around.
Have a lovely Sunday. It is chilly here today but the sun is out at least.
Hugs,
Amy:)
Sorry to hear your colds are also hard to shake, hate these ones that last for weeks!
Took ds2 to the gp and he says its a rash!!!:banghead:
I think I know the difference between a rash and something more..So hard to find a good gp. Am just keeping him confined anyhow until it clears.
oh and on asking why his reply was "it happens, it will go in a week" lol a excuse for no idea maybe?
Just like others are "a virus" when they dont know.
Other than things are pretty good at the moment, Katie is just as great and adorable as ever, no wonder I get nothing done!
Am finding that DP is even off the comp more to see what shes saying or doing, shes at the exciting age where learning and changing every day.
Am still waiting on a proper AF to take my clomid, who knows maybe Ill ovulate and get preggers and no period, now that would be nice lol.
Hope your family's colds are easing and your all well

Hello Vicki,
Still fighting the dreaded lurgy here but slowly it is retreating. I am up and trying to do more this weekend. We finally got the garage cleaned and the car in (well, hubby did most of the work..lol). At least now we won't have to de-ice it every morning.
Oh I hear you on the bad gp front. I am not happy with mine either. Yes the word 'virus' does cover a multitude of sins. How is ds#2 faring now? Better?
Not much happening here. I have my 12wk scan in another eight days and after chatting with the mum of one of ds' friends yesterday who had two missed m/c's last year (found out at 12wk scan), I now have one more thing to worry about..agghhhh! *fingers crossed all is going well in there*.
You may find you don't need the clomid as your fertility is usually very high after a birth. I have my fingers well crossed that you fall easily. Have you a particular sex in mind?
Hugs for a great week ahead.
Amy:)
Hi Amy,
Sorry to hear the colds are still hanging, have just a horrid cough left of mine which has eased a lot so a couple more days I should be back to normal.
ds2 is way better thanks for asking, the spots started to disappear a couple days later and they have little white flakes as they clear...all signs of g.measles.
Now to just wait a week to see if we are all clear.
ah the worries so never ending! Am sure everything is just perfect :hugs:, not long and a week to see for your self. I look forward to hearing all about it!
Do you know does the higher fertility after birth last for quite a bit?
Probably a boy, it would make a perfect pair for dp, one of each, but of course we would be happy whichever way it goes.
Katie is still just adorable as ever.
I left her with Mum as had to take ds1 car hunting and when we got back (4hrs later) she had been saying dada, which I had thought I had heard before this week but wasnt sure, so of course dp is in heaven! Talk about daddys little girl lol. Lucky shes so easy, mum and dad are in their 70s but were more than happy to take her for that long and longer if needed, she just gets better, how is that possible!!?? lol
better go, things to do while she naps.
Hope your having a good w.e.
xx

Hey hon,
How cool that you have your parents living nearby. I know how valuable that will be to Katie as she grows. My dad lives in Port Macquarie and we only see him 2 or 3 times a year, the rest of the year he is travelling! I couldn't catch him on the home phone last week so I rang his mobile today and he is on Bribie Island in QLD. I keep telling him he is wasting my inheritance..lol.
My in-laws live in northern QLD and have advised me that they don't want my kids staying in their home anymore as they 'talk too much' (they were 3 and 4 respectively when we last visited there). *Sigh*. So I understand why you are happy to leave Katie with your folks..and why shouldn't they adore her..she is just gorgeous!!
Did you manage to find ds1 a great car? How do you feel about him being on the road?
I had best away to make dinner.
Hugs,
Amy:)

Do you know does the higher fertility after birth last for quite a bit?
I think it is three to six months but don't quote me..lol. I read that if you fall before three months there is a high chance it won't take but my neighbour and her brother are only 11mth apart so I guess it took for her mum.
Morning Amy!
Off out again soon to the car yard for ds1.
Have to test drive again and make the decision for him after I go over warranty and the car again to make sure alls ok. Then back tonight to pick it up.
oh got to run , katie awake and have to head out now. will finish later xxx

How did the car hunting go Vicki?
I had my eldest dd stay overnight last night. Trouble is, we get along so well that we sit up talking into the wee hours..lol. I am sooo tired tonight and am about to hurry to bed before I fall asleep on my feet.
The twelve week scan is only three days away and I am rather apprehensive. I will be back to post on Monday afternoon, hopefully with a pic and loads of excitement.
Hugs,
Amy:)
Do you think that now there are couple more of us a monthly changing chat thread? Just a thought as we will end up same chat on two threads..
Car is all purchased and now at his home but has a transmission leak so has to get towed back Tuesday! SIlly car yard salesman thought he could get us to pay for the tow HA! He didnt think about dealing with me, am one step ahead of them.
I hope youve had some nice sleeps to catch up?
Am sure your scan will be just fine!!! but fully understand the worries...xxx
Rather quiet w.e. Probably visit a couple of family members is about all. :D
Hope you have a great w.e!!
