View Full Version : UTi's while pregnant ?
Hi All
On saturday i was taken to hosp and diagnosed with a UTI that is likely to spread to my kidneys :( I am in so much pain especially when trying to sleep and walk !
Can anyone share their experience?? Im so worried !
Have they put you on antibiotics?
Here's my experience. I was in France and can't speak French and had been peeing constantly but was 20 weeks pg so figured that's all it was. We were holidaying for a month. Anyway woke up one morning, bad pain in kidney's. Off to the hospital we went. DF speaks Spanish (not French) and DF's dad speaks Spanish and a little bit of French (not english).
Anyway they put me in a room and the doctor came in and she spoke a tiny amount of english but didn't understand me when I said I was pregnant. Anyway she went off to get a catheter and I told DF there was no way in the world they were giving me a catheter for a UTI! Anyway she came back in and checked my 'bloated tummy' once again and DD kicked and she realised that I was pregnant.
I had to pee in a cup and then they sent me for an ultrasound and the ultrasound guy spoke French, Spanish and English so he was great!
Then they wouldn't give me antibiotics there cause I was pg so we had to go find this maternity hospital and no one there spoke Spanish or English but through DF's dad they assured me that baby was fine and the antibiotic's they were giving me was fine.
I had the antibiotics and I was ok and never had another one the whole pregnancy!
It is worrying but don't stress...unless you aren't on the other side of the world!
Hi Kayte,
Don't stress, it's been picked up now so once the antibiotics start working you'll feel 10 times better. Your baby would only be affected if it was never treated
I had a suspected one at 14 weeks. Just went on a course of antibiotics and was fine. I also took some cranberry tablets and drank heaps of water to help flush it out
I hope you feel better soon :)
