What an afternoon!

I was sitting here an hour ago reading some new posts and Andrew was sitting on the carpet nearby playing with his blocks. He starts to whinge a bit, I finish reading that thread and turn around..............

.........there is my darling bubba sitting smack bang in the middle of a big pile of ooey gooey poo! charming!

He has been a bit stopped up the last few days so he had some pears for lunch yesterday and again this morning - and at 1pm belly decided to get rid of EVERYTHING he had stockpiled in there.

Arrgh! So...how to pick up a dirty boy without ruining mummy's brand new clothes that she is wearing for the first time? Ok, hold baby out at arms length and transport across hall to change table. No way to avoid getting big pooey mess on change mat, so put bub down anyway. At this time wishing I had plastic gloves nearby, I had to wade through the poo to undo the snaps of his bodysuit and then try to figure out a way to get it over his head without smearing it all over his body and hair. Tough, but I sort of rolled it and squished it and stretched it.

After about 20 baby wipes, time to hit the bath. Bub is enjoying this daylight bath, but mummy is tapping her feet, thinking of the big fat mess on the carpet that needs to be cleaned up ASAP! Regretfully yoinking bub out of bath, speed dress in a nappy and singlet and plop onto the play couch in the family room. Mummy goes to the study with a big bucket of hot soapy water and scrubs, scrubs, scrubs. Meanwhile, can hear the happy sounds of a bub playing, so keep on scrubbing. All of a sudden a giggle. I look up....there is a laughing baby peering through the doorway at me- my clever little bubba has learnt to crawl! :D What a lovely surprise for mummy while deep in the poo!

He made about 4 metres of good crawling effort to find me! Clever boy! I jump up to give him congratulatory kisses and hugs and he scampers off in the other direction! Cheeky bugger!

Wow! What an afternoon! :D My baby is growing up!!

Reading your message brought back funny memories for me. In September we drove from Townsville to Cairns in a 2 dr Hyundai Getz rental. We stopped at the Frosty Mango for a smoothie. (Yummo!! anyone been there?) Anyway I didn't want to bother getting 6wk old Alyssa out of her seat which was facing backwards so we got takeaways. On my way back to the car with the goodies I just glanced in the window and saw Alyssa with some yellow stuff on her cheek.

On closer inspection she had filled her nappy twice over, it had spilled out of just one side and into her car seat. Having no control over her arms yet, she had rested her hand in it and then swiped her face with it.

Being newborn breastfed poo, it had no smell so I don't know how long she had it there! No wonder she was so happy. All we had with us were some wipes so I did what I could and gave her a quick wash in the baby room.

I should have known that would happen because she was wearing a new outfit. Alyssa has managed to christen nearly every new outfit she has!

Took the glow off the mango smoothie because it was the same colour!

Wow - isn't it the most exciting thing in the world. I bet you're so proud of your little one.

Ds started to crawl 3 days ago, and he's already like lightning. It's so lovely to see his little arms and legs scampering across the floor after all those months of trying and trying and trying. Yay.

That is the funniest and also the most delightful story I have read all day. Congrats to both you and Andrew, bet there's no stopping him now so get your skates on mum. :)

It is so challenging and exciting when they become mobile. The first few days are fun when you realise how much more childproofing you have to do! My DS is very independant and gets very cranky if I move him away from were he was heading!
