I'm a 12 but because I'm tall I sometimes have to buy a 14 for the extra length and have it taken in. Don't know why they assume the next size up will be taller :confused:

Before I had DD I was a size 6, when I was pregnant I was a 10-12 and now I'm an 8.

I guess it depends if the people answering are pregnant, TTC or still carrying a jelly belly.

I am an 8 - 10 again since having DD... I have big boobs so its my top half thats bigger.. I am working on getting back to normal size, and yesterday I bought a dress in size XS, the lady in the shop actually told me I would need that size... It made me feel really good, like my exercise is worthwhile.... Sorry to ramble......:o

I don't have one size. I am around a size 12 but i do have smaller tops in my closet. One is a size 6, which fits me in the waist perfectly. Since I like wearing tight tops, I manage to squeeze the E cups boobs in.

im now a 10-12, (but mostly 12) but will probably go up in a few months due to pregnancy.

Before i had elise i was a almost size 16 :o i was so sick with my pregnancy i was down to a size 12 by about 6-7mths. Not the best way to loose weight, but i didnt complain afterwards about it either :laughing: who knows whats going to happen this time :rolleyes:

Mostly 12's here but some are 14's.
Just depends on the make and the cut.
Sometimes I find it hard to get my boobs into some thing. Mine aren't even big... only a c-d cup, so sometimes I need a 14 in the top:rolleyes:

I'm a size 10 bottoms, and tops very from 10-12, depending on the cut and such. I have broad shoulders and am busty. (sadly even after a reduction).
Sizes have def got bigger over time, my size 10s from 10 years ago would never fit me now. There really needs to be sizing standards introduced in Aust, I know they're talking about it, but will it ever happen??? :confused:

Well I'm a 12 in most things, occassionally have to go in a 14 in some bottoms....I chose a 12 as thats majority of my wardrobe.

I used to be a 10 - 12 before i had ds, so thats my goal at the moment to drop back to that :fingerscrossed: Im 174cm tall so i would never aim to be anything smaller than a ten as i know i would look anorexic if i did.

The bottom 1/2 is size 10. My boobs won't allow that (12E) and so my top 1/2 is relagated to size 12.
I'm never any more or any less.

I was an 8 before loch. But never ever anymore.

But if I wear size 12 pants Im pulling them up all day.

I also have size 10DD (@)(@)'s so that sometimes depending on the shirt will make me need to go a little bigger.

I like the fact my size appears lower but Im still pretty wobbly and hate my body. So I think it doesnt matter what size you are if you can love and accept your body you are doing better than alot of woman i think.

I agree sizing blows. There should definately be a sizing system that is the same for all clothing/brands etc. I have the same issue with shoes!
Why can't they decide what size the sizes are and stick to it the whole way accross the board???

Lunar i did see that and i was listening to how much they weighed and OMG that was me for some, was 47kgs before my DS.... and i necer saw me in the light that they showed. it was a great show i think and it really opened my eyes!

I ate like a horse though, just couldn't put on weight for the life of me... then I had to go on the pill for menstral problems and in a year I went from 45kgs to 82kgs:eek: that's a size 6-8 to a size 14!!! Then I came off the pill and lost 20 kgs:thumbsup: then fell pg with DD1 and gained 30kgs:rolleyes: it hasn't stopped since.... up and down, up and down.
But I don't care anymore. I am happy with my body (mummy tummy and all) and my hubby is VERRRRRY happy with the way I look and to me, that's all that matters.

I used to work in a clothing store and the aus average size is actually a 12-14 (as the poll pretty much shows). I reckon if you're happy with yourself who cares what ya look like!
I'd much rather know larger, friendly people than skinny mean people any day. (Not that all skinny people are mean. I'm just making no sense when I try to talk again:o)

:D taken me a long time to realise that doesnt matter what size you are as long as you happy and comfortable with it and your clothes fit properly and look good you'll feel adn look a million dollars!
HOWEVER at moment none of my clothes fit (either too big (pregnancy stuff) or too small or inappropriate now I have a tummy...so I dont feel that happy or comfy with myself...but did before I was pregnant so know it acheivable...and hey if not I will go shopping for a new wardrobe!:yelclap:
I personally find Australian sizes in general
smaller than UK - I was in a size 12 -14 out there and here was a 14 -16 pre pregnancy. May be the shops I go to...
I would say the average size looking at people on street has to be somewhere between 14 & 18...be interesting to see also what the ages of the respondees is too...cos I was a size 8 - 10 at 20 :) (now 30)

I was an 8 before DS, I got married at 20 weeks in a size 6 wedding dress (bad m/s led to weight loss) and was a 10 bottom 12 top (dd-e cup) I'm also short at 163cms and my body suits being small.. now that my DD is slowly weaning off my cup size is d, I'm a petite with curves, if there is such a thing?

I don't fit the skinny leg stuff though... I have breasts and hips.

Sounds just like me - apart from the m/s! I was an 8-10 pre preg, now a 12 sometimes 14 and happy with that! Especially since we are TTC the extra weight seems to help. I had to put on 5kg to get preg first time. I am 160cm so small but curvy with DDs on top. Yes I look like I could fall over at any minute :laughing: and DS is weaned so they aren't shrinking any time soon.

I bought a cocktail dress last week for a wedding and was quite devastated to have to buy a large :eek: as I totally don't see myself as large!

The only dress I own is my wedding dress, so had to go off that - luckily it still fits!

So ... I must be pretty weird I think, as I am a size 14-16 on the bottom half (no bum or hips:( ) and a size 20-22 on top (fat belly and broad back/shoulders!). It makes buying things like pj's hard as they tend to come in sets and while the top may fit, that bottoms fall to the floor. I also can't get bra and knickers sets for the same reason, so I'm pretty mismatched.
