Is there anybody who has taken their baby boy to be circumcised and told he is tongue tied and needs correction surgery? (Especially from 1999 onwards.)

If this has happened to you could you please email or pm me.

That is all.

My 4 year old has had tounge tie correction surgery, but not after being told when he was circumcised (as he isn't:) ). His surgery was done at 12.5 months, though I noticed it at about 6 months. He couldn't protrude the tip of his tounge past his bottom lip and had what they refer to as a heart shaped tip, where the tie causes his toungue to seperate slightly at the tip, so it looks like the top of a heart in shape.
It made eating and drinking a lot easier by the way, as up till then he could only drink out of latex cross cut teats on his bottle.
How old is your boy? The earlier you have it done the better, as it can affect eating and speech, and I do know some people who's child still is hard to understand (at 10 years old), because his surgery wasn't done until 2.5 years.
Hope this helps.

I need to clarify a bit.

Since 1999 there was a huge jump in the number of tongue-tie corrections done on Queensland boys. At least one doctor was caught by Medicare opportunistically bogusly diagnosing tongue-tie.

I am curious to find out if there are any more doctors who have done the same thing.

Unless I get evidence to the contrary I am assuming that the parents of the many hundreds of boys who had the base of their tongue cut for no good reason were never informed that the surgery was unnecessary.

If any parents were told I would be interested to know their response.

This bubhubber has previously referred several times about a certain Dr in relation to this, I suspect that is the motive here.
