View Full Version : Browns Toddler (Fresh) Milk?
Hello there!
Just a quick question about this new Browns Toddler Fresh Milk that I have seen advertised. It looks like a regular carton of milk but advertised to the demographic of parents with toddlers. It contains extra iron and possibly other supplements. Looks like an interesting and cheaper alternative to Toddler Powdered Milk Supplements (ie: Karicare Toddler Gold etc).
Anyone used it and what did you think? It does appear to be another toddler marketing gimmick, but I am curious all the same.
Cheers! :D
I've never seen it or heard of it....
i think i know the one you mean, the adds have been making me cry.... (major preggo symptom lol)
I always remember my girlfriend who is a dietician saying that anything (milk/juice etc) with anything added (iron/folate etc..) were basically a crock...
but i dont actually have any info on the product itself sorry...
I particularly don't like their emotive ads (you'd think it was for a building society). I think they are just trying to get ppl to spend more money (but then I don't believe in toddler formula either :o )
Cheers

i agree with the other's, it sounds like just another marketing ploy.
If you feel your child needs more iron in their diet, slather the vegimite on more thickly in the morning :D
Also, if you ingest vitamin C at the same time as Iron, the vit C helps the iron to absorb! So vegemite on toast, with a drink of OJ!
Yep, glad I am not the only one who thinks it is a marketing ploy. I mentioned that in my original post anyway as I too am cynical about those things, but was curious to see what it was like.
The iron thing is interesting actually. Because when you look at iron in breastmilk, it decreases at a certain age and the baby is then provided with other relevant nutrients in the breastmilk with an intro option to other foods relevant for their age. So why would a toddler formula go about boosting the iron when nature is decreasing the iron? One of the Toddler Milks (Karicare I think) claims to have the equivalent iron to 30 glasses of cow's milk in two 200ml glasses of its toddler milk. That seems excessive to me. Now I know that cow's milk is not everyone's ideal weaning dairy product for its lack of relevant nutrients (in comparison to breastmilk if you are feeding 12 months plus), but even so, to be 30 times more than even cow's milk seems a bit much to me.
I particularly don't like their emotive ads (you'd think it was for a building society). I think they are just trying to get ppl to spend more money (but then I don't believe in toddler formula either :o )

This ad is all over the Nick Jr channel of Foxtel (Nick Jr, by the way, used to promote their channel as the only kid's channel without toy ads etc!!! They've been sneaking them in of late, but that's another thread)
My 4 y/o asked today if we could get the kid's milk that he saw because "it makes kids healthy" - I finally figured out that it was this milk he was talking about.
I thought at first that it was a Kodak ad!!
Carly
Insurance sprang to my mind when I first saw it. :D
