Hello

My boy does the same thing but only during the day - I think that's because during the night he is too sleepy to notice which side he's on so he takes both sides without fuss. During the day he's favouring the left side. He'll spend about a minute on the right side before he starts carrying on - I thought it was cause I had a dud boob as the left side has always been nearly twice the size but both sides are producing fine. I've given up trying to keep him on the right side, I'll offer it to him until he arcs up then switch him over.

He's over 6kg at 11 wks old so he's getting enough mostly from one side so I'm sure there's nothing wrong with feeding from one - maybe you can express from the other although this won't even out the size.

My daughter started to refuse the breast at 6 or 7 weeks. She'd go a little on the left, completely refuse the right. It might have been due to poor supply on the right, or she was uncomfortable there, who knows. I gave up the fight (big relief!) and switched 100% to bottles, but kept expressing for another 6 weeks. But that one or two weeks of her refusing the right caused me to nearly dry up on the right. Like you, I had a huge left breast and my normal (small!!) right breast. I can reassure you that after I quit expressing they both returned to normal. So it' won't be a permanent size difference!
Good luck.

Hi there all,

I use to have problems getting my 5mo to take the R breast, when she was only a few weeks old too. I think it has something to do with the flow of your milk too (if it's too fast or too slow).

I found it more akward to hold her to the R breast too. A solution was to hold her in the football position - her head in my R hand & legs along my side - it tricked her into thinking it was her fave L breast!! ;)

After a little while, she took both breasts without trouble. Hope this helps!!

Well i have got the same problem with my nearly 7 week old son....I have also had the problem with my other three girls....
I spoke to a breastfeeding counsellor about it the other day and she said it was fine just to feed off one side, and that you can produce enough from one to sustain your baby....
Having lopsided boobs would be really bad but hang in there and remember you are doing the best you can for your baby so that is a good thing!!!
(Is it just me or is it weird that my son and other kids havent liked the right side either??!! That is the same as everyone else on here!!!)
